First sick of the semester

Something you should know about me.... I am a delicate flower.

No, really. I am very delicate physically. I hurt easily and I get sick easily. I'm sick at least 2 or 3 times per semester. Monday I woke up with the most horrible phlegmy chest cough and a fever. The fever broke that night, but now it's back. This is particularly frustrating because I've had to miss a day of school and I'm scheduled to sing for class performances Friday and Monday. Huzzah for the first wave of sick!

The Friday performance can be postponed, if need be, but the Monday one is firm and it's my chance to be able to sing on Third Friday. My accompanist thinks I've got a really good shot at it, but not if my voice isn't up to par. It's frustrating.

FFffffff.

Not to mention I'm way behind in my learning of Magic Flute. Learning an entire opera is a big feat, and I'm doing the props for it as well. And I need my German and Spanish pieces for this semester learned by Thursday. Which is doable, but being sick is NOT helping. (The German in particular has this crazy modified chromatic scale that is kicking my butt and I need to be able to sing it to get it in my head/voice right. But it's still nowhere near as crazy as some of the stuff I've been singing in Dona Nobis Pacem.) And of course I can't get in touch with my accompanists/coaches to work on them.... sigh. I also need to figure out if I'm doing the Classical Scholarship Competition this semester.. I opted not to do NATS, so I should probably do this at least...

Did I mention I got my first paid singing job? I'm singing for a Palm Sunday service... two pieces. I'm really nervous! I only get to run-through with the accompanist right before the gig. But I have the peeeeeeeeeeeeerfect dress for it!

In the bright side, I've been getting a ton of writing and even a little bit of drawing done during all this time. Though maybe I should replace some of that with more sleep.

Uhmmmm... other than that, medicine is gross and I want to not be sick anymore by this weekend. Special Repo! showing at a horror festival in Hollywood and Ogre will be there!

And uh... yeah. Medicine is gross.
