[[Insert one long-haired Overman (more like dreadlocks really) approaching you.
Seems like Gainer does his part by patrolling!]]

Where the adults made it? Resistance? Well... I'm not sure what resistance you're talking about, but we've been getting calls to fight off aliens lately.

[He looks up and down your unit, evaluating it. Bit flashy for his tastes, but it's obviously maneuverable and advanced...] Nice hardware.

I don't know what it's like where you've been, but my hometown and everywhere in two days walk, the adults have taken a permanent nap. Literally.

...Are you sure you walked here?

[[The mech's vest shifts up and the pilot's seat pushes out.]]

Because we're pretty far from everything... including the worlds we came from...

This is another world? I... huh.

Actually, not, that really shouldn't faze me. Given all the weirdness and technobabble being thrown around at home, it wouldn't surprise me at all if you could walk to another world from home.

I'm not sure what you mean, but most of the people here are adults...

Good. That means that my hometown's brand of alien hasn't gotten here yet.

I'm willin' to soldier for food - or do scut work if I need to. This a military base?

Uh-huh! At least, I think it was. Now it's just our base. Some of us came from different armies, but we all got lost or somehow ended up here, and now we fight to protect this planet.

Suits me fine. I ain't got a home, not since the Bliss. This place'll do.

At least I can fight back, protect something.

What's your name, kid? [A smile. 'Kid' is practically on par with 'Madam' as an honorific, to him.]

[Hayato looks this kid over.]

...Come back in five years. I'm not in the habit of making children go into battle.

The Nightmares aren't in the habit of caring how old their victims are either, unless they fight back. With due respect, sir, I'm not some prepubescent rookie.

Not sure you have the right place, kiddo.

Fuck. Where is this place, then?

...Wait. You're... how old are you?

contract_vandal March 16 2011, 02:29:16 UTC
This place... I guess you could say it's a rest stop for people with giant robots.

And I'm nineteen. Why do you ask?

One year past a Sad Birthday. This really isn't home.

Er...

[Misato wants to handle this, seeing as she's more used to dealing with kids than the other commanders here, but...]

Hi! I'm Misato.

Before I start answering questions, why are you asking about adults particularly?

Most of them back home are gone. The rest are... changed. Can't dream anymore, or it might cost them their life.
