“To those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your help. And I will be your president too.”
“This is our time to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth, that, out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope. And where we are met with cynicism and doubts and those who tell us that we can’t, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes, we can.”
That, is how you reach across the aisle.
Well gang, we did it. The guy the world opened its arms to has been elected, and it's as if a huge burden has been lifted.
Some people have expressed concern over his economic policy, thinking it's going to be out of control spending. Let me put it this way -- money is going to be spent to fix the problems of today. Would you rather it be out of your pocket or the government's? Because money is going to be spent and it has to come from somewhere. Personally, I'd rather the government assume some of the burden for now to give me a chance to improve my position. We had a $6 trillion deficit before then went into a surplus, which was ravaged over the last eight years by an irresponsible administration. Within 10 years, we went from $6 trillion deficit to surplus -- we can do it again if need be. Don't worry so much about that.
Now that the election's been decided, let's not be sore winners and losers and instead act with compassion toward each other's motives -- "a more perfect union". The majority has spoken as to whom they feel should take the helm to realize that motive, and if our energies are squandered with meaningless bickering and trifles, we'll never come out of this mess. The rest of the world loves him, so let's give him our full support and see what he can do.
Congratulations, President Obama.
