Today's word is:
Nergasm (Nurd-GAS-um)
The euphoria felt upon seeing the difference in performance brought on by a new piece of hardware.
My printer was the last piece of hardware left over from my IT days, circa 1997 I think. Even when new it was a total ink hog, and I went without either color or Black more often than not. Recently I discovered that it would literally have been cheaper to buy a new printer than it would have been to replace the ink cartridges.
In the end it didn't turn out that way as I dropped one and a half Benjamins on the black monster currently sitting at my left: An HP Officejet Pro 8600, or 'The Brute' as I have come to call it. The Brute is a surprisingly flexible beast though, being not only a printer, but a wireless scanner, copier and fax. It's also capable of printing out a 40 page document in a little under 4 minutes...a marked improvement over the machine it's replacing, which could do the same thing in half an hour...
The Printer is now replaced. The PC is next...
