Geostigma?

My brother just bought a DVD of the new movie from "Final Fantasy" creator Square-Enix.

"Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children" is based off the 1996 Playstation hit role-playing game Final Fantasy VII. It features all of the characters from the game, all rendered in beautiful realistic 3d (no polygons or sprites here!) The story is set two years after the Final Battle fought by Cloud (main protagonist) and Sephiroth (main antagonist) left the world 'wounded'.

See, in the FFVII universe, the world is considered as a living entity, with humans and all life in it connected via a lifestream. Cloud and Sephiroth are clones, aberrations, alien life forms born from an alien source. Sephiroth chooses to embrance his heritage, Cloud chooses to rid himself of it. In the end, Cloud defeats Sephiroth and saves the world... in fact, the world saved everyone... sacrificing its own lifestream to prevent the invasion of an alien lifestream.

In exchange for this sacrifice was 'geostigma'. A sickness that affects those who have been infected by the alien cells. Those beings who lose hope and live life in pain due to the body's rejection of these alien cells.

Well, that's where the story begins... that said, the MOVIE IS INSANE.

It blows "FF:Spirits Within" right out of the water.

The fight scenes are superb, and the 3d rendering of the characters is top notch. Cloud, Tifa.... everyone. They even get to fight with a popular "Summon" creature. :)

TWO THUMBS UP!
