Squeezums has promised me a new camera in the relatively near future, so hopefully that'll spur me towards updating more often. ^_^
In the meantime: Meat still doesn't get out as much as she should, & she's still not thrilled w/ me. We went to a convention last month (Squeezums & I did, not me & Meat... I mean, Meat would have been invited, but I really don't think she would have dug it). It was on the far side of town & we had a free hotel room, so we were gone for the weekend, but Squeezums or I were back every day to check on & feed the critters.
My Saturday visit found Meat's cage doors wide open. I still can't find half of the spring clip that was keeping it closed. She was in the cage when I discovered this, & I've yet to find anything w/ any sign of bunny vandalism on it. I think she just likes to have the door open... just in case. Either that, or she just wanted to watch a little TV.
I zip-tied the doors closed when I left for the rest of the weekend, & have since gotten new clips that aren't so easily shaken-free. Take that, evil bunny mastermind! ;P
Her new "thing" is eating a particular box. It started out life as a 4-pack of Heather Ale (scroll down to the "Fraoch castle pack" on this page:
http://www.fraoch.com/shop.htm ). It's now just one corner of a raggedy bit of cardboard.
I was commenting to my Squeezypet how weird bunnies are... I mean, Meat's had that box to play w/ for months w/o so much as a second glance, & now, suddenly, most of her waking hours are devoted to eating it.
Squeezums hypothesized that she's playing "job" (kindof the opposite of playing "house"). She's a high-powered executive, & she's been assigned the "Box Job". If she doesn't eat it before the deadline, her boss is totally going to chew her ass out... and she might not get that raise she's been counting on, which means that she won't be able to pay for that pool she's planning on getting...
It made a lot more sense after Squeezums explained it. ^_^
In other news, I checked Petfinder for the first time in months, today (lord knows why... I certainly don't need to adopt new critters now any more than I did months ago). There's one bunny up for adoption locally: 8lb neutered male, looks to be black or some sort of dark agouti beastie. Said to be super friendly. He needs a home because his last family moved & couldn't take him w/ them.
We'll take the outrage at people moving & leaving their pets behind as read for a moment, while I point this out:
We currently have a big black late-neutered tomcat named Sammy. We have him because the last 2 families that lived in the last house we rented "loved" him, but left him behind when they moved.
WTF? Is there something about big, dark animals named "Sammy" that just begs "abandon me, please"?
I tried to convince Squeezums that we should have a SammyCat *and* a SammyBun, but I don't think he bought it.
::sigh::
Here's hoping that all the Sammies & other abandoned critters in the world find good forever homes right quick!
