From one war into another. And you were heading home to see your family? {Not like he needs another reason to hate the scientists, but this isn't helping their case at all.}
[There's silence on his end as he reads through the guide, save for a few quiet outbursts of "Holy Toledo..." and the like. There are also footsteps to be heard, though they're slow and maybe a little erratic. Eventually:]
Why do I get the feeling I'm looking at the watered-down version here?
{He listens to your exclamations silently, patiently waiting for any questions. Poor guy, he has every reason to be as confused and bewildered as he sounds.}
Well, they had to keep it quick and simple for any new arrivals. That news alone is bad enough as is.
I'm sorry.
Do you have any friends here? A place to stay? Anything I can do?
Oh, no. I'm gonna be fine. I managed to get in touch with one friend - Hawkeye; I don't know if you've ever heard of him - and he's coming for me right now. You've been a lot of help, though. I'm not too fond of what I just read, but I'm not about to shoot the messenger. [...] Ace, was it?
Henry Blake. But I'm sure you already knew that one.
I guess the right way to look at it is, I must've been brought here for a reason, so I've just gotta do what I can to make a difference in the time I've got. [He's silent for a moment. Then, as if it were an afterthought, he adds:] I'm a surgeon.
Wish I could tell you it was a good one. We're all just lab rats to these scientists. But that's still a damn good way to look at it if I ever heard one. I think we'll get along just fine.
Surgeon huh? I'm sure we could use more of those. Maybe you can assist in chip removal?
Oh, absolutely. Not only do they suppress any supernatural abilities but they can sometimes drive us into madness.
I'm torn. Some people shouldn't be given their powers back, they can't be trusted with them. But at the same time... if the scientists can control us with the chip, or if they malfunction and make us attack or kill our friends? It's a double-edged sword.
Here Hope this helps a little.
Names Ace, should you need anything.

Sorry, can't say I know him.
No problem. Glad I could help. And I appreciate the, uh, not shooting thing.
You got it! Portgas D. Ace, at your service.

Have you gotten yours out?

No, though I've been trying. They haven't found the new location yet.
