AU Exchange Letter

Jul 02, 2017 01:32

Hello fellow creative thinker! Thanks for volunteering your services, and I hope you have as much fun as I plan to :)

I have below my standard likes/dislikes list, and some feelings about and prompts for each of my fandoms, but what's most important to me is that you have a good time writing it! This is a small exchange so I don't expect a huge epic. The prompts are there for inspiration and to give you an idea of the sort of thing I like in a fic, they are by no means demands. Don't stress!

I'm not very good at art prompts, so apologies in advance, but in general I like the color blue, realism, abtract backgrounds, relationship fluff, and characters being good at what they're good at.

Standard likes/dislikes list:

  • Hurt/Comfort. I like emotional more than physical, but both are good
  • Misunderstandings and miscommunication
  • Friends-to-lovers or frienemies-to-lovers
  • Trust issues
  • Snark or banter
  • Ethical sluttery: While I do adore will-they-won't-they, my heart lies with happy poly people, whether this means a committed moresome or a committed relationship with one-night-standery. Make any ship I've listed a threesome, or an open relationship, or just have them flirting with other people. IF YOU WRITE SEDORETU YOU GET AN AUTOMATIC WIN NO MATTER WHAT.
  • Crossovers are cool: Here is a list of my fandoms: http://meatball42.livejournal.com/8879.html
  • Sex is cool: Here is a list of kinks and tropes that I like, though you are under no obligtion to include any of them is you write sex: http://meatball42.livejournal.com/78471.html
  • Happy endings
AUs that I like:

  • Canon AUs rock, wherein one thing changes and everything after that changes accordingly, or where the universe is intact but most other things are different. This is opposed to a total AU (which I also dig), wherein characters meet at:
  • Any sort of professional workplace, from a general store to the UN- massive bonus points if the author has RL experience in said setting
  • Sports AU- I will marry you for this, particularly if you actually teach me about the sport. Ping pong to Olympic diving, idc.
  • Fusions- HDM is great, ABO is fine as long as it's more complicated than a straight-up romance, D/s is fantastic. IF YOU WRITE SEDORETU YOU GET AN AUTOMATIC WIN NO MATTER WHAT.
  • Genderflipped canon AU or any sort of creatively built alternate universe gender/sexual dynamic system is great, especially if there's plot too, not just 'Character X is a woman see what that changes'. World-building is great, even if you're lazy and don't do too much, I'm not egging you on for a novel here ;)
  • Racebending is win, end of.
  • Incubus/succubus AUs, whether a complete AU or just an alternate change to canon, are a soft spot.
Writing dislikes:
Instantaneous or inexplicably fast attraction/relationship/sex. Pointless fic, IMO, unless you want PWP.
Mental torture without H/C or extensive physical torture or rape without H/C. I like it as a plot point, but I care more about the characters than the acts themselvs, so focus on the former, por favor.
RPF in general.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Here are my general takes on fandoms and ships, and my preferences, along with some prompts. The prompts are totally optional, and feel free to ignore them if you think of something that flows better, but please don't, for example, stray too far from the headcanons. If I put down two characters as besties feel free to ship them, but don't make them enemies? Fandoms and ships are not listed in any order of preference.

Person of Interest

Relationship: Team Machine
Relationship: Harold Finch/John Reese
Relationship: Harold Finch/John Reese/Root/Sameen Shaw
Relationship: John Reese/Sameen Shaw
Relationship: Joss Carter/John Reese

AU: None of the main characters ever died (Person of Interest): Imagine a world where Finch, Reese, Carter, Fusco, Root and Shaw all worked together to protect the lives of New Yorkers and New York-adjacents forever. *sighs in happiness*. I'll take anything from larger-team banter, AU where they have an actual rota of people to take care of stuff, any AU of how S3 and onward storylines played out differently with Carter, to a series finale AU. Joss and John actually getting to go on a date would be nice. Or, personally I loved Nathan and if you want to include him in the never died- maybe somebody interfered and faked his death? For reasons? I liked him okay, gimme a break. Anything from cracky to plotty, shippy, angsty or feels.

AU: Pack mentality (Person of Interest): I love sociology, so any massive revamping of the social structure is super fun, and pack-type AUs feed my need for intense relationships among the characters, even those who aren't very close. Throw any strange tropes into the midst and have fun! I'd love to see shippy packmates John and Shaw, with an exploration of how their relationships with Finch or Root are affected. Would the team be bonded more closely if packmates had sex, or would that upset scent markers or hierachical practices? What if communal sexual expression is the norm, but one member is gay, or asexual, or simply not attracted to another? How would the existence of pack bonds affect the canon, like Root's kidnapping Finch mutliple times, or John's interest in people outside the pack?

AU: Sedoretu (Person of Interest): I adooooore sedoretu verse, and it fits perfectly for this fandom in S3 and beyond with its core cast of four. I imagine Reese and Root, and Finch and Shaw as the pairs who don't get it on, but beyond that, moeities are up to you. I'd love to see anything about how non-standard their relationship is- I doubt that even as an established group, certain members would be comfortable living together, though I do imagine Finch would get them all a communal home or two, for the times they're feeling trusting and homey- that's a prompt! A get-together fic would be nice, or something exploring how Shaw's disappearance, or the events of the end of the series, would affect the relationships within the sedoretu. I would also be interested in a fic set before Root joined the team, about how Carter, Fusco, Zoe Morgan, etc., fit with Reese and Finch dynamic-wise. Backstory about Finch and his relationships with Nathan and Olivia or Grace would also be lovely.

AU: Soulmate Marks (Person of Interest): I love it when popular tropes from one fandom are applied to another, and this fandom has few soulmark AUs. I particularly like unusual mark systems- there are too many plot holes in the first words or the name versions, so anything outside that would be cool. Any of my ships would be lovely, and feel free to do canon-compliant, canon AU, or complete AU, or combine it with another prompt.
Oh, for example I just found this and it would be hilarious: http://satanstrousers.tumblr.com/post/162985519316/beejohnlocked-chekhovsgum-cindymoon-im

AU: Sports (Person of Interest): I adore sports AUs so I'll most likely love pretty much anything you can come up with. Bonus points for Reese and Shaw getting to hit each other in a constructive way, but if it doesn't fit that's cool. Track and field is 14x bonus points.

Marvel Cinematic Universe x1

MCU is split into two request groups because I only want vertain people involved with certain tropes.

Sam Wilson
Tony Stark
Peter Parker
Natasha Romanov
Maria Hill
Wanda Maximoff
Relationship: James "Bucky" Barnes/Steve Rogers
Relationship: Tony Stark & Ultron Peggy Carter
Relationship: Steve Rogers/Peggy Carter
Relationship: James "Bucky" Barnes/Sam Wilson
Relationship: Sam Wilson/Steve Rogers

AU: Sam Wilson can talk to birds (MCU and TV): It would be extremely hard to go wrong with this. Sam has always been able to talk to birds, or he gains the ability all of a sudden- but purely MCU verse, please, no comics fusiony bits, unless you want to be like the Redwing drone was named after Redwing he knew as a kid or something. Sam/Any or standalone, cracky, plotty, etc. Preferably not too much angst, at east not unless it has a happy ending :)

AU: The team took more than three minutes to discuss the Accords in Civil War (MCU and TV): For reeeeeaallll. Either 1) the actual conversation itself, or a series of conversations, characters exploring the options, maybe, like, idk, calling a lawyer? Or someone who knows anything about the UN? Feel free to stick with the canon timeline, and just have the Avengers making time for this extraordinarily important conversation despite Peggy's death, or stretch it out a bit- maybe more realistic than 'the UN gave us two days head's up about this, because pretty sure there's rules about that, or at least you could get an extension if you //have a lawyer or advocate, etc//. Or 2) Anything about how the events of the movie or hypothetical events afterwards would be changed were said conversation to have taken place. Any ships, any character focuses, just... I don't even need a whole fix it, just make them seem a little more rational, please. Anything involving Bucky, T'Challa, etc., quite acceptable.

AU: Character tampers with the events of the timeline (MCU and TV): I come from the Doctor Who and Torchwood fandoms, so timey-wimey stuff is old hat for me. One of my favorite things in a new fandom is to throw a bunch of tropes from the old one onto it and see what pretty colors they make, so I have a few ideas here to pique your interest, and if you want one run with it, but if you think of something better full speed ahead:
Instead of creating Ultron, Tony uses the staff to create a time machine.
Steve wants to make it so Bucky never became the Winter Soldier, and someone else has to argue against it for the sake of the timeline.
Someone gets caught in a time loop/paradox until they can achieve a goal.
Someone from the future appears to give the Avengers a warning- but what they do with it...
Someone appears from the future in order to matchmake, crack or serious.

Marvel Cinematic Universe x2

MCU is split into two request groups because I only want vertain people involved with certain tropes. This request group is the land of femslash and/or female friendship and definitely female badassery.

Jane Foster
Pepper Potts
Claire Temple
Maria Hill
Tony Stark
Natasha Romanov
Bobbi Morse
Jessica Jones
Wanda Maximoff
Peggy Carter
Clint Barton
Hope Van Dyne
Relationship: Maria Hill & Pepper Potts
Relationship: Maria Hill/Natasha Romanov
Relationship: Steve Rogers/Natasha Romanov
Relationship: James "Bucky" Barnes/Steve Rogers
Relationship: Steve Rogers/Peggy Carter

AU: Jane Foster becomes Thor (MCU and TV): After the as-yet-unknown events of Ragnorak, or due to some time-travel or inter-universal shenanigans, Thor is sick with an Asguardian virus and down for a decade or so, I don't care. Jane exploring Yggdrasil, defending the Earth, conducting experiments about Bifrost relativity, and whatever else you think she'd do, while being a well-rounded character and having friends, colleagues, family, etc., beyond Thor and whenever he decides to poke his head down on Earth.

AU: Pepper kept Extremis (MCU and TV): MCU went in the direction of Pepper being push-y-hands nonono to too much Iron Man stuff, understandably, on the basis of 'I don't want to see my boyfriend die and/or get into a dysfunctional relationship with his robot.' Extremis seems to have been the last straw for a while there. But what if it was, instead, a common point? Say, it took longer to get rid of Extremis, so Pepper got used to it, maybe accidentally superheroed, and realized she liked it, and understood why Tony clung so hard to Iron Man? Of course feel free to still break them up if you want, I just want to see Pepper getting to be as badass physically as she is professionally. Learning to control her new abilities with Natasha, Bruce, Steve, Maria, whoever would be sweet. What else can Extremis do, once she has it under control?

AU: Claire Temple helps out the Avengers (MCU and TV): Claire Temple as the most competent human of the Defenders is my jam, and the Avengers could use someone with a level head. My ideal fic is something where she helps out one or two of them when they're injured, a la the Defenders, but gets dragged in as their go-to injury person, metaphorically kicking and screaming because she doesn't need anymore super-powered people to babysit. Or, something where she just saves an injured person she doesn't realize is an Avenger, or where she counsels one of them in a bar one time, or anything you feel like. Just grace the Avengers witht he shining light that is Claire Temple. Bonus points for her commiserating with Sam or Maria or Rhodey, the other level-headed Avengers people.

AU: All-Female Avengers team (MCU and TV): Literally anything. Recruitment, training, missions, downtime, romance within the team, romance outside of the team, an alternate Civil War or Ultron or Cap2, something where they all live together in Stark Tower or some parallel thereof and play Never Have I Ever, sparring with powers, dealing with their Issues(tm), PTSD, someone is pregnant oh no what to do, someone is hurt fighting Doombots fluff. I don't mind genderbending a few male characters if you feel like it, but I really want to let the MCU & TV's women shine! Anyone from the TV shows is fair game, and feel entirely welcome to include any other female comics characters, or those who are not yet in the MCU. I'm not big on X-Men, though there are a few exceptions. America Chavez, Roberta Mendez (Captain America 2099), Silver Sable, Emma Frost, Madame Masque, Riri Williams, Kate Bishop, Tigra, Spider-Girl, Spider-Woman, Shuri, Captain Marvel, original flavor Wasp, ANYONE!!!

AU: Maria Hill in Civil War (MCU and TV): Literally why wasn't she there? Probably because she would have known about the Accords in advance, forced the Avengers to come up with a few plans and back-ups and preparations for alternate events, reigned in Steve from being quite so stupid... basically preemtively fixed shit. Definitely not let them have a throw-down in fucking airport. I'm not saying she's the boss, but she has way more experience manipulating the halls of power than any of the Avengers do, probably has more knowedge on how the UN specifically works, definitely has blackmail on Ross, and basically could navigate them through what the Accords actually meant way better than the floundering we saw in that one conversation... my personal pet peeve witht he universe is when people are irrational, and the way the Avengers handled the Accords in the movie hurt my soul. Make them be logical, Ave Maria!

AU: stranded on another Earth with a different set of superheroes (MCU and TV): Anyone from MCU falls into a universe of All-Female Avengers Team would be amazing, or a female character falls through into a universe and has an adventure. Can you tell I'm on a girls kick currently? This is sort of the same as the above prompts, except specifically how an outisder from the MCU's perspective would react to such a world. Shocked? Disbelieving? Do they think this team is better? Do they want to join? Does it give them ideas for when they get back home? Do they have a doppelganger, or a romance, or both? I'm quite down for 'This version of me is dating you??/gay??'

Marvel Comics

AU: Rumiko doesn't die (Marvel Comics): Rumiko is one of my favorite characters in the comics because she doesn't really care about the things most of the characters care about. She's not a superhero, so she doesn't have the drive to stop rime or protect people, she's not a villain, she's already rich and has everything she wants so she's not trying to manipulate anyone- she's there to have a good time, date someone she likes, and make Tony chill the fuck out. I want to see something where they manage tp patch up their relationship, or basically any fluff or H/C or talking shit out or vacationing or basically anything.

AU: Rumiko gains superpowers (Marvel Comics): So many people have superpowers! Even Ru got dosed up on mutant growth hormone once and threw Iron Man around. What if that had stayed around? Or something else- maybe she got bitten by a radioactive turtle, I don't care. Part of Rumiko's story arc was her coming to terms witht he fact that her weatlh and privilege made her see the world differently from other people. It would be interesting to examine how her mindset would change when she had the ability to save peoples' lives. Would she choose to work with the Avengers or another team? Go solo or pair with Iron Man? Keep her abilities a secret, or be out and proud? She would totally use them to joyride, if possible. And how would her family react?
