One of the things I did a couple years ago, that I decided I wanted to do again as sort of a new year's resolution this year, was keep track of all the books I read. It was really neat, that year, to see.
Of course, since the beginning of the year, I've been haphazardly writing them down on a sheet of paper and saying "I'm going to start making LJ entries one of these days..." and suddenly the list is RIDICULOUS long. Um. Due in part to that whole "I haven't been working" thing, and a bit, in January to the "traveling a lot" thing (airplane time=reading!) and also thanks in LARGE part to the Seattle Public Library (WOOT!) and its awesome proximity to my home and the fact that when I read about books or see them recommended, I can order them up ONLINE. YEAH, baby!
So, I know I've missed writing down a few, but...starting with
1. Some random book I borrowed from
karacelia and left on the plane by - Peri O'Shaughnessy
2. A Rumor of Gems - Ellen Steiber
3. The Sharing Knife-Passage (V3) - Lois McMaster Bujold [re-read, as catch up to...]
4. The Sharing Knife-Horizon (V4) - Lois McMaster Bujold
5. Some random book by David Baldacci
6. Schoold for Seducation - Donna Jordan
7. Ladykiller - Lisa Scottoline
8. Girl From Mars - Tamara Bach [YA gay book...odd, because it was so clear how it was originally written in German and translated]
9. Merchants War - Charles Stross [I've been reading this series, and enjoy it, but it kind of irks me because I want the books to be more meaty or longer or something...I'm not sure if I mean they're too pulpy? or just too chopped up and ought to be two books instead of four, or what...]
10. The Winner - David Baldacci [...these are easily available in airports when you run out. and fat]
11. Personal Assets - Emma Holly
12. Visibility - Sarah Neufeld [YA - I've quite enjoyed the recommendations I've gotten from the Unshelved library comic, that I've been able to get from...my library!]
13. Palace of Mirrors - Margaret Peterson Haddix [also YA...I tend to troll the new YA bookshelf here at the library--it has a lot of good stuff, and this being the gay area of town, they also tend to have a lot of stuff focused on that. Er, not that this book had anything to do with that. Though it was good, and it reminds me I wanted to look up and place a hold on her other stuff...]
14. Primal Needs - Susan Sizemore [...ok, yes, I still read a lot of really crappy romances. They're available in bulk on the shelves, OK? Most of them aren't good. Some of them occasionally are. This one wasn't]
15. Storm Born - Richelle Mead
16. Wicked Woman - Denise Eagan
17. Local Girls - Jenny O'Connell
18. Freefall - Anna Levine
19. Anatomy of a Boyfriend - Daria Shadowsky
20. Into the Flame - Christina Dodd
21. Airhead - Meg Cabot
22. Duainfey - Sharon Lee/Steve Miller
23. Dead Witch Walking - Kim Harrison [which made me re-read the other ones I had...]
24. Every Which Way But Dead - Kim Harrison
25. Fistful of Charms - Kim Harrison
26. The Duke and I - Julia Quinn
27. Vixen - Jane Feather
28. The Other Half of Me - Emily Franklin [see? Random YA book about sperm donor kid meeting half sibilng in amongst trashy romances. What can I say?]
29. Glitter Baby - SE Phillips [this was SO BAD]
30. The Damsel in this Dress - Marianne Stilings
31, 32, 33 - the Weather Warden books 1, 2, and 3 - Rachel Caine
34. White House Autumn - Ellen Emerson White [I swear this book came out a looooooong time ago, but apparently it's been republished by a new house, and tweaked a little bit? like so all the characters have cellphones?]
35. Suite Scarlett - Maureen Johnson [another YA, but not a fave]
36. Walls of the Universe - Paul Melko [another Unshelved rec, I liked bits of it, especially one small twist at the end, but wasn't as big a fan as I'd hoped to be from the premise, I just didn't especially like a lot of the characters]
37. The City Not Long After - Pat Murphy
38. Family Affairs-Secrets of My Hollywood Life - Jen Calonita [OK OK, i adore trashy YA fic as much as I adore trashy romances!]
39. Boy Meets Boy - David Levithan [gay YA!]
40. Duplicate Effort - Kristine Katherine Rusch
41. Undone - Rachel Caine
42. Kitty and the Dead Man's Hand
43. To Sin With a Stranger - Kathryn Caskie
44. Gallant Match - Jennifer Blake [a rare NON regency romance read for me--New Orleans!]
45. Double Crossed - Darrien Lee [a foray into contemp AfAm romance lit from a speciality publishing house (hello public library)...I've read a couple of them...one thing that always startles me is the religion thing which is always present. Even some of the titles feature preacher heros, though this one didn't]
46. Project Jennifer - Jill Amy Rosenblatt [Almost quit reading this one, it was so annoying. Damn chick lit]
47. Singularity's Ring - Paul Melko
48. Hard Love - Ellen Wittlinger
and the latest, which I started yesterday and will probably finish today...
49. Petty Treason - Madeline Robins [a re-read off my shelf, I needed something to read while going on the bus/to the doctor yesterday]
and I'm at the library so will pick up more now...
....and you can understand, given that it's still the first week in March, why I goggle at people who plan to read 50 books in 2009. Ahem. Sure, my pace may be rather accelerated this year given the amount of free time I've found myself with (and I KNOW I've forgotten to write down a few I've read or especially re-read off my shelves). But...still.
