I don't expect you to read all that, I just had to put it all down because it tickles me so...

In Memoriam Premortem

I'll forego the cliched pun for this extended education on the processing of foods, in favor of a simple sweet kick to the teeth (and the more subtle pun). All formalities aside, I learned this news sometime ago, and decided it best to share, this food for thought (I know I promised not to).

We all know, I'm sure, that the ( Read more... )

Why is everyone so resigned to the doom of the human race?

If we do our part to live more sustainably and decrease pollution emitions, our pained planet can be a cleaner, greener place. And we could all scamper around pleased as pie at the wonderful world we've created. :)

We COULD, but we won't.
We get presidents like Bush instead.

Heh, that comment was originally intended for you, but I thought I might be preaching to the converted.

And while a part of me agrees, I always have to remain hopeful. Not only is it possible to have your head in the clouds and your feet on the ground at the same time, but it's the only way I know. Dream and dream big, kid. Cus as long as people like you and I know what's up and can educate others, anything is possible. The worst thing, in my mind, is for people who know better to sit back and quite literally watch the world come down before them.

Quite true.

I've been trying to reconcile my views for some time now. I've come to this conclusion- I am (what I like to call) Practical. (Or more along the lines of pessimistic) and yet, somehow, I'm hopeful. I know people are going to do bad stuff, I don't have much FAITH that they won't, but I still HOPE that they will choose otherwise.

It's odd, and a little frustrating, but yes. I agree with you. I'm just HOPING it comes true.

Heh, well I tend to be on the opposite side of the spectrum as far as optimism/ pessimism goes. And I believe in karma and the idea that the universe runs on the energy that you send out to it. For my part, I want to devote my life to some sort of social change and a shift to a higher way of thinking and a better way of living. The greatest reward imaginable would be to see the fruits of my labor flourishing. ... So I guess that's one down, and I'm sure there are countless more like me.

I just hope that my will is unwavering and that such a self-proclaimed free spirit, not to mention helpless little girl, can really take on such huge responsibilty and actually make a difference.

It's become the intrinsic arrogance of humanity to, not only call itself such, but to honestly believe it could disrupt the cyclic resonance of the planet. The worst we could do is stall it for a few million years, give or take.

Well, you're right about that. Earth, in all its resilience, will go on without us-- but that's just the thing. Humans, like any other species, are not exempt from extinction; and, as is our selfish nature, we're gonna drag everyone along with us.

“Oh mother nature needs a favor? Well, maybe she should have thought of that when she was besetting us with droughts and floods and poison monkeys. Nature started the fight for survival and now she wants to quit because she’s losing? Well, I say ‘hard cheese!’”

hhehe, dont worry im used to it...not to say that u always sound dumb err, ummm...anyway (heheh lol jk)...simply referencing the fact that the real issue isnt the character or ideology of our leaders, but a deep seeded seperation of man from nature (literally or metaphorically). in essence, dont hate the player, hate the game. but also hate the player a little bit for not recognizing the game :).
