His breath quickened and his lips parted, eyes focused on the Peter’s mouth. Peter drew him in, equally intent and obvious about it. Sylar had waited so long for this, this willing kiss. He could smell Peter at this ever-shrinking distance, feel his heat and practically taste his mouth…At the last moment, he straightened, more-or-less out of Peter’s reach, his body stiff (unpleasantly so in the face of such a lovely embrace), jaw clenched.
Peter paused, but didn’t withdraw, for which Sylar was grateful. “What’s wrong?”
“You said no kissing.” He’d nearly forgotten. The disappointment crashed over him and resonated. A glance showed that Peter was…patient?
Peter’s face was kind as he replaced his palms to Sylar’s cheeks. “I know what I said before and I appreciate you remembering. I want you to listen to what I’m saying now: I want you to kiss me and enjoy it.”
Sylar lacked the ability to label the feeling he had, but relief, gratitude, and some strong form of delight led the way. He looked down at Peter…differently now. Peter had opened a door for him, for them, in a way. He was allowing Sylar inside, allowing him to feel and be part of the experience. In turn, Sylar cupped his partner’s face, caressing him gently because his affections were also allowed and that was unthinkably joyous. Their foreheads rested together.
His voice came from deep in his chest, “With pleasure.”
