PAT Test

Today I turned out for the PAT (Physical Aptitude) test for the juvenile corrections officer job and passed with flying colors. It consisted of:
  • 1.5 mile run under 18:17 minutes - I did 15:21, a personal best! I only walked twice and finished second or third out of 8-10 women, including a few miliary veterans (the document I was given was wrong or old so I had about :30 more than I thought I did, not that I needed it);
  • 10-15 push ups, no time limit, touching a 4" foam cube - I did 16, one more than 'the maximum' though I don't think it counted (again, I thought I needed to do 19-23 within a minute based on my information);
  • and 15-18 sit ups, no time limit, elbows touching knees - I did 18 (instead of the previously believed 20-25 in a minute).
I have an interview set up this Thursday. Next is the polygraph and background and I would be hired (or not) by September 17th, before school on the 23rd. This is the lowest tier of law enforcement that I know of, the standards get tougher as you go up. This was also more 'pass/fail' using the scores to determine that; I thought it was more score based than it is. I used to get major headaches/overheating until we remembered/discovered a headband with water-soaking beads which I wore and had no overheating at all (except to my face - it was outdoors, 70-80 degrees and sunny). Anyway, I'm really proud of myself and wanted to share.

Also the airman-hydraulic engineer I've been talking to for a month wants to meet - yay!

friends, personal
