Interesting that you didn't have Sylar follow him around. I am wondering why? It doesn't even seem to have occurred to him at first, anyway. But he seems willing to admit that he's glad Peter's back. I really shouldn't cause its late, but I need to read one more chapter!

I dunno why Sylar didn't follow. Too proud, didn't want to look desperate, was subconsciously certain Peter would come back? Also he's deeply affected by Nathan's memories, which comes peeking out in different ways now and then.

-- That's probably accurate. Plus (through Nathan) he knows Peter's a crap navigator, scared and paranoid he's not going to be able to "find his way back" real well, if at all. So maybe if Peter runs off and gets himself lost, Sylar can find him, rescue him, save the day and be a hero. Its kind of a helpful "I told you so" he'd be enacting if that happened.
Sylar has enough empathy to know that the knowledge that Peter is stuck here forever with Sylar is a shock and really bad news. He doesn't see any reason to try to rush that learning/accepting process for Peter. He can, and does, give the guy a break (not that Peter really notices). With Sylar a nice gesture is him *not* doing something and that's impossible to track from another person's POV.
Again, thank you for reading and commenting.

The other canon reference is about Nathan, made by Claire at the end - something about for someone who could fly, he was a really lousy navigator. Which is an interesting metaphor for his entire character. Bad moral compass.
Peter goes, by himself, to a number of locations in canon without any mention being made of him getting lost. Like flying to Odessa, TX and finding the high school, finding the little escapee group in the recently rewatched episode, etc. I ignore him getting around in New York because as a paramedic, he should know the city pretty well.
I hadn't thought Peter was an expert or anything, but good enough.
