ready to go

It is so not fair! Yesterday we picked up the boat from winter storage. The weather was warm and partly sunny, almost perfect for fishing. I WANTED to go fishing! As it is, I probably won't get on the water until sometime in April. George is going with the club to Kentucky Lake at the end of the month. I keep wishing that I was going, too. Knowing I am going to go for a whole week in October for the ABA tournament isn't really a consolation, since I won't be fishing in that tournament. The nice thing is we are seriously thinking about taking long weekends this summer to go places to fish. We are going to use our vacation time that way instead of going to TN this year. I just have to find all the info to bank our week so we can use it to go someplace new next year.

Picking up the boat turned into a mini-adventure. The truck has been losing air in a couple of the tires. Last weekend we fired up the generator and filled all the tires in preparation for getting the boat yesterday. George went out to start the truck while I was doing the "call forward the house phone to my cell" thing. He came back in cussing, seems the battery in the truck was dead. He hooked the charger up to the battery to see if it would even take a charge, since it wouldn't start off the charger/starter. I suggested we take the NewT to get the boat. On the way to Denny's we stopped at Hires and bought a new battery for the truck. He admitted that almost eight years is pretty good as the dead battery is the original battery. On the way home with the boat, I told him he should think about driving the NewT to Kentucky Lake. The tonneau cover on the truck is shot. We took it off a couple of years ago and haven't replaced it. I said the long drive is really too far to trust all his stuff to being in the boat or the bed of the pickup. This way he could put it all in the back of the NewT (Chevy Suburban) and not have to worry about it blowing out, getting wet or someone stealing it. Just before we got home, he said he hates it when I am right (a standard joke between us) and if I wasn't going to need the NewT for the rest of the month he would just leave the boat hooked up to it. So now the NewT and Triton are parked on the side drive in front of the pickup. While he was putting the new battery in the truck I got some of the stuff needed for the traveling with the boat out of the truck and put it in the NewT. He hooked up the extension cord to the boat to charge the batteries before we left to take the old battery to Hires for disposal and go to Meijers for some groceries. All he has to do now is load his gear in the NewT and he is good to go.....well, maybe add some gas to the boat and NewT tanks, too.

I finished the kids' last load of laundry after we got home from Meijer. I folded everything that was in the dryer and put those clothes and the ones that were stacked on top of the dryer back into their clothes basket and duffel bag. Rebecca next door was coming at 7pm to sand the mud seams on the new wall she had put up for me between the laundry room and the rest of the basement. I didn't want drywall mud dust to get all over their clean clothes. Now that the wall is done, except for painting, I can safely go do our laundry. Have to get it done before I leave for Florida. George is going to need clean clothes while I am gone.

I am scheduled to leave for FL Thursday morning at 7:28am, return Monday night at 10:40pm. It is not near as much time as I would like to spend with Debby. Last night was really my last chance to quit my job and stay as long as she needs me, but, alas, I did not hit the lottery. Even if they do draw my numbers on Wednesday night I won't be able to go to Indy to claim the money before leaving the next day, so I am stuck having to come back after only a few days.
Trust is a precious commodity. When it is lost getting it back is difficult and a long time in recapturing. I am so afraid to go to FL.

Don't know what I did yesterday that was so tiring, but I ended up falling asleep on the couch before K&K even got home from their Chicago trip. Kel called at 6 to say they had just got into IN. That translated into them getting home around 8, so when they weren't here by 8:25pm I started to worry a little. She called a little later to say they were stopping to eat before coming to the house. I relaxed and promptly fell asleep, sitting up on the couch. Woke up briefly when they got home, then conked back out. At some time during the night I must have woken up enough to switch from sitting up to laying on the couch because when I opened my eyes at 4am I was stretched out on the couch and all covered up. Sleeping on the couch is NOT good. It is part of what got me into trouble before. I have to be a better wife, no excuses allowed.

Well, the birds outside are starting to sing. That means the day has arrived, time to go turn on the new pot of coffee, let the dog out and maybe sneak into bed for a little while......
