My paid account ran out on Monday, so I have to wait unti next Tuesday (pay day) to get back my lovely, delicious icons ('noo!! How can I function on livejournal with only SIX inappropriate icons?!?') Woe for the lack of pornified Harry Potter imagery in 100x100 pixels.
I mentioned to a couple of people recently that I discovered a couple of weeks ago that I had this kick-ass Elton John Tribute album on my iTunes. I'm pretty sure my sister must have imported it a while back when she was lowing the standard of music updating her iPod with some of my and my parents' albums, including this one,
Two Rooms. It's an awesome album, with tribute covers by well-known British and American musicians. It is, in fact, so kick-ass, that it even has its
own wiki! Anyway, here're a few of my favourite tracks to tantalize the Elton fans out there.
1.
Crocodile Rock - The Beach Boys. I think this song really suits the original Beach Boys ideology: having a fun with Barbara Anne Suzie back when rock was young. The cover is faithful but still kind of silly (in a good way). But it beats the hell out of the Bob the Builder version.
2.
The Bitch is Back - Tina Turner. Could that combination make any more sense? This cover is cheesy and brilliant.
3.
Rocket Man - Kate Bush. This is a little bit spacey, eerie and generally great. I particularly like the random Sitar riffs.
4.
Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting - The Who. Damn, this does this song justice. When the intro comes on on my iPod, I always think it's the theme from School of Rock, which is probably what the producers of that film/song were going for. This one's definitely my favourite.
If you'd like to request an upload of one of the tracks listed in either of the above info links, feel free to do so in the comments.
