I'm really glad I decided to stop doing that thing where I don't pick anybody I hate, and what better way to celebrate this new philosophy than by picking Texas Tech WHO JUST LOST THANKS GUYS!!!!
None of the ACC teams (save for maybe UNC) are as good as they usually are. Duke especially is sucking compared to their regular play, but they aren't the only ones. Duke, BC, and Georgia Tech all got their seeds based on the strength of their overall programs, more than their play this year. And when even your top conference team has five in-conference losses -- well, it doesn't necessarily mean that they suck, but it does mean that everybody's on basically the same level. When you look at the teams the ACC teams are losing to -- it would be one thing if they were all great teams. But for the most part they're not.
That said, I am not particularly picking on the ACC -- I think the SEC is also much weaker than usual, and I only picked three Big Ten teams to win in the first round (and only two of those to make it any further than that -- and none in the final four). I'm really feeling the Big East and some of the smaller schools this year.
I have Penn losing to TAMU in the first round. I have no love for my conference. I am, however, feeling the SEC. BC and Duke are the only private schools I have going past the first round.
