The committee of shadowy Brandeis figures should decide whether they'll honor my petition to return on the 10th. Exciting and terrifying! In other words, a prime opportunity to pee my pants in wild abandon. "Peeing my pants" in this case is slang for "Do lots of frantic research! Prepare for the FUTURE!"
For instance!
Planning to enroll in classes:
AMST: Hollywood and American Culture (Doherty), M,W 2:10 PM-3:30 PM
AMST: American Culture: Foundations (Farrelly), T,F 12:10 PM-1:30 PM
JOUR: Ethics in Journalism (McNamara), T,F 1:40 PM-3:00 PM
JOUR: Digital and Multimedia Journalism (Bass- ????) Th 2:10 PM-5:00 PM
This schedule's notable traits:
1. American Studies EXPLOSION. This is awesome, because I will inevitably show interest in everything. May raise concerns with parentals and advisors due to lack of variety. I think there's plenty: one teaches visual narratives, one teaches old American texts, one teaches... well, ethics, and the last teaches practical applications of media convergence from a journalistic perspective. THEY'RE ALL TOTALLY DIFFERENT, GUYS.
2. Journalism professors everywhere. Good because I already know two of them, and they know me. This could be bad because... because... should I say something about variety again? Maybe I shouldn't clump half the journalism faculty into one semester or something. Don't see the harm of it now, though.
3. I am taking care of quite a few required courses. Hooray for completing majors/minors.
4. Pretty much every class is directly concerned with my academic future. Great, I'm focusing on what I really really want to study! But maybe I should give myself some variety to keep me on my toes.
My favorite alternate: ANTH: Landscapes, Place, Meaning and Memory across Cultures, T,F 10:40 AM-12:00 PM
But it's clearly not as awesome/necessary as the other courses I have lined up. Decisions! .
I should also start trolling for adequate housing. I'm hoping to grab some nice off-campus digs, but I may have to rely on Reslife.
PS: Apparently I can legally buy alcohol now. Happy birthday, self, you forever lasting nervous wreck you.
