Well, volleyball tryouts are finally over. Monday was alright, Tuesday was good, today not so much. But I made the team, haha. Yayyy. It was pretty predictable who would make it, but I just hope we will be good this year. There are 10 of us including a freshman. I still think it's stupid Steben is thinking about making me a setter, too, because I am sooo bad at it, haha. Anyway, Monday was Phil and my 6th month. I planned a picnic that went quite well with the help of Margaret, he liked the presents I gave him (a bunch of little stuff) and I loved the bracelet he got me. And I found out he is an artist, which is cool. So i guess things are going good with us, and fine with volleyball, and good with friends. I still can't stop thinking about how much I dread school, but I'm going to try to push that into the back of my mind. My mom and dad are bringing Kylie down to U of I as I write. :-( I was getting used to having her around, and seeing Oliver, and stuff like that. I'll have to wait like 2 months to see her again. *Sigh.* Kevin is going down on Saturday I think, but I'm not sure. That will be even more weird, not because I see Kevin more or am closer to him, but just because it's the first time he is leaving. Now I'll have to rely on my dad to fix the computers all the time, haha. Ah, it'll be strange with only 3 kids, that's fo sho. It will also be strange when I get my permit and take driver's ed and such. I'm pretty excited, though. Ooh, and I'm excited because I got my NEW guitar on Monday! It's my own, and I feel like more of a real guitar player now, and I'm learning my second full song. Woohoo! Speaking of which, I think I'm going to go play it, then shower, then eat, then hang out with people hopefully, then finish reading my book, then maybe put new songs on my MP3, then I don't know. Argh this better be a good last week of summer!
~Random thought: Eating sliced apples with carmel is like an art. One has to be patient as the carmel slowly oozes down and a single drip and eventually breaks off, leaving an opening between the table and the apple for the eater to put the bottom of their mouth as they place the carmel-covered apple on their tongue and snap it in half with their teeth. If not patient, then the eater must be clever enough to devise a plan for the all the carmel to stay on the slice, or else quickly drip it off. Some tactics include twirling the lengthy drop around the slice, or scooping the carmel on to part of the apple and then quickly turning the fruit as it is lifted out of the dip to catch the carmel before it even begins to fall off, or lowering the apple as it drips then snapping upward at just the right moment so as to break the string of carmel, or any other unique way. If not patient or clever, then the eater must be satisfied with messiness, for it's pretty much unavoidable to not have carmel on your mouth after dipping an apple in it and stuffing it in his or her mouth. And by the way, I left out the random fact because the thought was so long. ;-)
