R.I.P Cory Monteith

Our beloved Frankenteen is gone and it feels impossible to believe. I recall my best friend and I nearly getting into an argument when he told me about Cory going into rehab in April, I simply couldn't believe it, this guy seemed to have it all: talent, engaged to a beautiful woman, apart of an insanely popular and culturally important TV show with his whole career in front of him. It just goes to show that no matter how much success a person has, it can't erase the darkness within them.
I only know Cory as Finn Hudson, he did such a brilliant job with that character. There was always something so authentic about the way he portrayed Finn, every scene was inescapably honest. Finn was a character filled with confusion, trying to figure out what it meant to be a man by his standards, the standards of his friends and the standards of society and struggling to do what seemed right. He could have been just a stereotype, the clueless football player, dream boy. But Cory made it all so real. And his voice, all of his solos in Glee were so beautiful.
All the interviews I've seen with him he always seemed to be such a genuinely nice, humble guy and he was really funny. He just seemed to be truly enjoying the amazing opportunities Glee was providing him. It was strange to see him not smiling. He had this happy-go-lucky attitude and he seemed a real sweetheart.
I feel so terribly for Lea, they were about to be married and now he's gone. I can't imagine what it's going to be like for her going to work on season five, returning to the show where they met and fell in love and being constantly reminded of him. It makes me happy that 'stay strong Lea' is a trending topic on Twitter and I hope she feels the support we are sending her. I was watching the pilot episode and watching the two of them singing Don't Stop Believin' left me in pieces, watching them so young, optimistic and happy and now knowing that she's alone, it's so cruel. My heart goes out to his family as well.
Glee would not have been the same without him.
