... saw Brokeback Mountain last night. It has to be the saddest movie. EVER! Even with the lousy projector that couldn't focus on any of the long shots, it was a most beautiful movie to watch which was a nice counterpoint the most difficult subject matter. Not difficult because it was about gay love. Difficult because our society reacts so blindly to anything it considers "non conventional". I find it so hard to understand why the pursuit of a loving relationship should cause people to react with such ... malevolence. I thought the main theme - choosing not to live your OWN life out of fear - was almost swallowed whole by the achingly poignant portrayal of Enis & Jack's unrequited love. So. SO. Sad. Maybe I could open up our farm to all the gay boys & girls that can't live their lives in the open air. Think it'd help? *sigh*
