It's been an odd lead up to Christmas this year.
Firstly my mom left early to be with my sister (
shawnigan) though I think is important for both of them.
Secondly, I/we decided to forego our annual Solstice Party. With Christmas being on a Friday, this coming weekend is going to be crazy for most people with other engagements and last weekend just seemed too far away from the actual 21st. Plus, y'know, Stella is kinda taking up my time. Add a baking extravaganza and you KNOW I'd be stressed to the max.
Thirdly, TJ & Cliff won't arrive until the 24th ... so Christmas really won't get rolling until it's upon us.
I enjoyed putting up my little Solstice Tree -
winjimir I'm going to put your DEEvine creation on as soon as I send out your package - tomorrow hopefully! - and we'll be getting out big tree this weekend. The girl put up the remainder of the decorations - shiny balls and lights mostly - and we're holding off on the baking until later next week so we don't OD on sugary treats.
So the Christmas spirit is pretty thin around here. Further, we bought our own gifts ... even the girl ... talk about non-surprise. Not sure whether this is a Good Thing (read: no crazy expectations) or just easing down the slippery Bah Humbug slope.
