I am thankful to my three wonderful guinea pigs who do so much to help me relax and make me happy. I am thankful to my loving boyfriend. He makes me happier than I've ever been, and makes this place bearable. He makes this place feel a little like home. I am thankful for my amazing friends, who help me out, laugh with me, and are always there with a drink or cookies when the situation calls for it. I am thankful for my three brothers, and my wonderful parents. I wouldn't be anything without them. I am thankful for Sara, Katie, and Yin, who have share my life for so many years it always seems strange to go to family gatherings and not see them there. I am thankful for my extended family, the roots they give me, and the perspective. I am thankful that there is a hummingbird outside my window right now, and the mountains are visible in the distance across the valley. I am thankful that I have the resources to type this, and then to go bake a turkey and have dinner with such wonderful people. I am thankful I am mostly healthy, mostly happy, employed, and with health insurance. I am thankful, believe it or not, for my boss. He teaches me a lot, both about chemistry and myself. I am thankful that chance has worked out in my favor time and time again, so that now I can be studying for my PhD and confident in my abilities to get it and move on to a job of my choice. I am thankful to have been born in a country and time that allows me to leave in peace, and allows me to be judged for the most part on my merits alone, and not on superficials. I am thankful for everyone who made that possible, and I am grateful for the troops overseas right now fighting for that. I am thankful I was able to go home two weeks ago to see most of my family for a thanksgiving meal.
I don't know how to end this without being totally awkward.
