California might be some awful hashed land, Michigan, might be red, but the purple is spreading. New Hampshire joined the club today, after strict religious protections were approved by the legislature. Btw, hats off to New England in general for getting that right: I understand the desire for such protections. (Though I don't know why they're necessary: ask my mom about the stuff she had to go through to be allowed to be married to my dad...and they're both Catholic and straight. Catholics in Michigan, at the very least, have the right to say who marries in their churches.) Rhode Island made a baby step today also, granting one right to domestic partners: the right to claim the body of a partner and arrange for a funeral. If we can just get a new govenor there then we'll have the rest of New England.
