Up for comment here. What are your thoughts on the broad idea of original sin? (using that term 'cause I'm lapsed Catholic...use whatever terminology works for you) The idea that we are somehow born or exist unworthy/sinful/imperfect/whathaveyou. I'll weigh in in the comments at some point probably, but I'd be curious to hear what y'all have to

For me, I relate the garden of eden story to the evolution of consiousness and sentience.
Before the apple, everything was hunky dory. We had no concept of "naked" or any kind of higher value structures that were not directly related to our survival. We reacted. We were complicated forms of physics. There was no illusion of free-will. we were innocent. and free from death, as we had no idea what it was.
And then....we became curious. And we partook of the apple of knowledge. and we became aware of various value structures. Nakedness. awarness of fear and of death. Sex for pleasure. Self-awarness. The ability of complex communications through language. etc. Some people really get on to the "it was the woman who sinned first" thing. I personally think this is a good thing because it rings with my personal mythology. The feminine is the divine carrier. It is within the female that all the knowledge and wisdom of the ages is passed. So i think the female partaking first is neat. Nothing negative for women, though.
But being sentient has it's issues. Things are a lot more complicated. We develop sense of "right and wrong" which are very ambiguous. We have the fortune and misfortune to have free will or the illusion of free will. To be self aware and be aware of death.....yet still give meaning and value to our worlds and go on.
I'm out of time though. Damn.
Theres my 2 cents
