Kissing The Lipless

So, I went home last weekend.

It was great. I got home on Thursday night at about midnight. I stayed up for a little bit, and then went to sleep in my own bed for the first time in a while. On Friday my brother came home from Syracuse and my Dad came home at the same time from California. We stayed home and did the family thing. That was a good time. On Saturday I had an early dinner out with my family, then my brother and I hung out and met up with a whole bunch of friends, had some dessert at Panera Bread, went to Borders, and then went home and watched the end of some movie about rich people making clones of themselves with my Parents. On Sunday, following tradition, we ate good food just about all day. Sundays at my house are the greatest days. I went home Sunday night and my brother got to see my campus. Yeah.

This week kind of just happened. I didn't pay all that much attention to it. I didn't have all that much work for a change, so I had more time to work on the new design project I'm doing. It doesn't involve paint, thank god. It's a pen and ink drawing that mixes elements from three different pieces, from three different artists which I pictured below. I used "stacks in celebration" a piece by Charles Sheeler (front and center), "Holidays" by Brian Ewing (back left) , and "Fish Tale" by Max Ernst (back right). All three are very different pieces, but they all remind me of Long Island in one way or another, and the finished design is incredibly abstarct and surreal looking. It has a neverland-esque feel to it. I'll get the picture of that up asap. It's probably my best work to date, and my professor liked it so much that he says I might never have to paint again for the rest of the semester. It's a good thing.

Halloween was fun...kind of. My roomates and I went down to South Street where all the halloween shat was going down. We went to two different cafes and then came back. Happy Halloween.

I'm starting to work out my schedule for next semester today. I have to meet with my advisor soon and get it all taken care of sometime between the 14th and the 20th. I'm going to meet with her tomorrow just to make sure there isn't anything I overlooked.

I'm in a better mood than earlier in the week after I got back from being home. That's definitely a positive.

Have a happy Sunday.
