I came back to your journal to answer the questions, not that I mind the bc people reading it, but really, you're the one who asked, so I thought I'd answer just to you.

1. What do you think is an appropriate age to start having sex?
This is a very complicated question for a lot of people. I don't think 'age' is an appropriate determination so much as 'maturity' is, but I really don't think you can reach that level of maturity until you're well into your teens. One of my good friends got pregnant at 14 and delivered right before she turned 15. She'd been having sex for years before that. Unless you are knowledgable enough to know how to prevent pregnancy or are ready to deal with the consequences, I don't think sex should be an option.

2. Were you taught about sex (by parents, in school, etc)?
My mother was always very open with me about sex. I never talked about it with my father, although he was the one I lived with from 2-14. School was always abstinence only education, which I think is a HUGE mistake.

3. What do you consider sex?
I used to think it only counted if it was penetration, but quite frankly, if you can get an STI from it, then it's sex. That's why they're called SEXually transmitted infections, after all.

4. Are you comfortable talking about sex?
Very. In fact, although I'm less experienced than many of my friends, they still come to me for advice, generally about contraception because they know my ass isn't having a baby.

5. Are you still a virgin?
No, but I was still the go-to girl for my friends even when I was.

6. Was it consensual?
Yes, even though looking back on it now makes me wish I'd waited.

7. Were/Are you in a relationship?
I was then, and I am now, but not with the same person.

8. How old were you when you lost your virginity?
20. I was bound and determined to wait until I was no longer a teenager. In restrospect though I still wasn't ready when I made the decision.

9. What type of contraceptive (if any) did/do you use?
I had been on the pill (OTC if it matters) for about a month and a half because I'd been planning on having sex with that guy and it was better to be safe than sorry.
