Ugh, God, you nearly had me in tears with this one. I relate heavily to your heroine, spending way too much time in the closet worrying about what others would think of me, hiding behind shitty poetry and thick plastic glasses... I understand the freeing feeling being described here all too well, and it overjoys me to see it here on the page and know that, no matter what, we are never alone.

Yes, queen! :) This has the best elements of fairy tales, while subverting the ones that become too limiting. "Gerta" had such a clear and endearing voice, which makes her personal triumph so gratifying. She's an excellent, relatable LGBTQ heroine, and I appreciate how you took the time to build up the world and circumstances around her. Wonderful!
