This one's going on the fridge

On a whim, I decided to do artwork for the Buffy/Echo fic I'm writing. I'm not completely versed on the terms, but I think this qualifies as a banner. I'll probably stick it at the top of future chapters. At any rate, I wanted to share it so here it is:

It might be a little large for a banner, but I like the concept of you using banners to distinguish the stories for people.

I don't really read fan fictions and whatnot, but, when I did, I always liked that sort of thing.

I don't the technical limitations on these things. All I know is it's neat-o (though I am a little bit biased).

Well, if you're just writing them for yourself, it's good that you're going for what you like.

What program are you using?

That should've said "I don't know the technical..."

I hope other people enjoy my efforts as well, but mostly it is about the joy of creative energy.

The photo editor I use is called Active Pixels. It's free and consequently painful to use at times. I'm sure there are better pay-to-use programs, but AP is pretty good, all things considered.

If you're looking to try another free program, Gimp is pretty good.
As is Photoscape. :]

I have Photoscape. I think I got it around the same time as AP, but I've never bothered learning how to use it. I may have to take another look.

In my opinion, it's better suited to manipulating images, rather than creating new ones.
Before I transferred photoshop over to my laptop and while I was still in student government on campus, I was using Gimp and Photoscape in conjunction for P.R. work. And it did quite well.

I was just checking out Photoscape again. It has more filters and effects, but doesn't have much for what I usually do. I'm more, cut objects A, B, and C out of their photos and put them in photo D. Or variations on that. If I could find something that would help me do that faster (it takes forever in AP), that'd be cool.

Yeah. I'd try Gimp for that.
And, really, I would just splurge and go ahead and get Photoshop Elements if this is something you really enjoy. Most places will have the previous copy on sale for like $50. Which it's worth, imho.
