I can't handle a Buffy movie without Spike (or Buffy).

Well, one shouldn't really be surprised. They're remaking EVERYTHING nowadays. Mostly horror movies, but a bunch of other things get thrown in as well. There is very little creativity left in Hollywood nowadays.

Even so, Geller, wasn't even in the original movie, was she...?
Did Mr. Whedon even do the original movie?

Joss did write the original movie. (SMG was not the original Buffy, that's true) It was then hacked to pieces by actor Donald Sutherland and director Fran Rubel Kuzui. Joss has said many times that the movie did not meet his vision and that the series was what he wanted it to be. I wouldn't even care if they replaced SMG or the actors, but the characters are important. The writer(s) made the characters.
