About the Doctor's name & the Medusa Cascade, then I have this to offer you. From Last of the Timelords:
The Master: "Oh, do you know, I remember the days when the Doctor, oh, that famous Doctor, was waging a time war. Battling Sea Devils and Axons. He sealed the rift at the Medusa Cascade single-handed."
So, presumably he used his name to seal the rift.
Which have led me and Promethia to speculate that he did the same thing with the Time War, which is why his name is so dangerous - under the wrong conditions it could undo the lock?
Anyway, thank you lots for all the Omega stuff, I'm not half as familiar with it all as I wish I was. Especially love the 'I'll build myself a new one!' :)

Ooh. There's something I hadn't considered. And I had completely forgotten that Medusa Cascade bit. Should've kept going after I checked out the scene where they discuss their titles. Might do a proper Utopia/Drums/Last re-watch sometime soon-ish.
Definitely an intriguing thought though. It certainly fits...especially if (as I assume) his name was in the book about the Time War (and not some other part of the library). It would probably need some very specific conditions though. Something like a tetradecagon or other energy converter. And probably a specific time. (November 23rd sounds like a good one.) And possibly it has to be the Doctor that says it. Regardless, there's plenty to support the fact that River whispered it in The Library with no ill-effects and yet the fields of Trenzalore at the fall of the Eleventh will still be dangerous.

That "attempt to build a TARDIS" has been driving me mad ever since "The Lodger" first aired and even the S6 opener didn't completely satisfy my curiosity. An Omega story would probably tie a nice little bow on it. Claraaaaaaaa! <3
