Classic Who: 4 Serials

Tomb of the Cybermen, Fury from the Deep, The Mind Robber, and The Invasion.

The Mind Robber and The Invasion were particularly enjoyable.

The Tomb of the Cybermen

A clear picture? I love it already.

Oh, is it right after 'Evil of the Daleks' then? *checks* Neat.

They're archeologists! // "I'm a time traveller; I point and laugh at archeologists."

"I used my own special technique. ... Keeping my eyes open and my mouth shut!" // Pwn'd.

I'm assuming the Cybermen will kill the guy who's waking them up.

Whoa. The Cybermen sound so much different.

Two is actually reminding me of Eleven in some ways. Or I suppose Eleven calls back to Two.

Well, from the sound of that, Jamie took the hit. It just better not have been Victoria.

"On the other hand...I never like to make predictions." // I can totally hear Matt Smith saying that line.

Fury from the Deep

Flying TARDIS! I love it when the TARDIS flies.

How about that? It's still Jamie and Victoria.

Reconstructions. -.-

"What's that?" // "It's a sonic screwdriver. Never fails." // SONIC SCREWDRIVER!!!

This one hasn't been incredibly interesting so far.

I like that the Doctor picks up his companions from more places than just contemporary earth.

"There's Robson's helicopter over there." // "But it hasn't got a driver." // "I've been dying to get my hands on one of those things."

Talk about an unarmed man who can't drive.

"Well, that's strange. I always under the impression that you couldn't loop the loop in a helicopter."

Sound vibrations killed the weed. I got that impression when Victoria was screaming. Guessing the sonic screwdriver might come in handy right about now.

I quite liked Victoria. At least she got a better ending than most of the companions seem to get.

The Mind Robber

Well, seems like Jamie's in it for the long haul.

Ooh, Gandalf!

How many different non-reality "nowhere" places does this universe have?

Okay, they keep saying "the master", but I thought his first serial was 'Terror of the Autons'. It's just a name, right?

"Oh, come on. Come on. If you want to play games, let's get on with it." // Very Doctor-y line.

"That's a fairy tale." // "Hahaha, Doctor. Aren't we all?" // This episode fits that quite nicely.

Hell yeah! Go Zoe!

Zoe's from the year 2,000?

This serial is really brilliant so far. Can't wait to see how it ends.

"I have yet to see a robot...that can climb!" // Seriously, Two and Eleven could swap places to great effect. They even dress similarly.

WHAT?!?! You can't end it there!

The Invasion

A massive electronics company. We haven't dropped into a parallel world, have we? Is this a Cyberman story?

Dude this Vaughn guy is totally John Lumic and this disposable transistor radio is probably like the ear pieces.

I quite like Zoe. She kicked Karkus' ass and now this computer too.

"What happens if they get the lift going before we get to the top?" // "Oh, that's simple. We get squashed." // Another line that I can totally here Eleven saying.

Kilroy was here? ... This is still several years before the Styx album. I wonder if that's where they got it from.

He wants to use emotions against them. That's a bit like the emotional inhibitor thing from 'The Age of Steel', isn't it?

Oh, look, a Cyberman.

A military official needs a civilian to explain photography?

And then he immediately denies her usefulness, despite the fact that he's clearly clueless. At least she sort of called him on it.

Yes, I assumed they'd do that. I hope it doesn't get anyone killed. I know I shouldn't have much feminist hope for a TV show from the 60's, but they've actually been somewhat better than expected so far.

And it seems we've got an ATMOS type element going on. In a UNIT story, no less.

These Cybermen do a sound a bit more like the modern ones.

Vaughn's actor plays a really great villain.

Zoe is so cool.
