Holler! What's up friends?
Richmond is pretty cool. Warm and humid, but I'm used to that right? I was thinking on the way over, how very old this city is, older than St. Louis by so much. It looks old in the area where I'm living; broad, tree-lined streets, all brick buildings, turrets (I'm totally serious people, turrets, right and left) and porches and balconies everywhere. My building is newer, but still with a sense of age. I like the apt and my room is a good size, but the kitchen...OMG the kitchen is tiny. All the appliances as well: small sink, small dish washer, small fridge, small oven. small pantry. I know I'm going to have difficulty dealing with that as time goes on, especially when I bake. On the other hand, this is a cheap apt that is close to a grocery store, a bank, and a street like the Loop. So I'll be good. I bought a bed (so expensive and I don't know if that's just how much beds cost or if I wasted $) and a quality dresser for cheap from a thrift store. I don't have any of it yet because getting shit delivered is both time consuming and expensive, but I will soon. Anna has been wonderful, helping with everything and letting any of my stress get to her.
The really intense stuff is school. It hasn't started yet, but my schedule looks nuts. I'm kind of getting to the point where I'm thinking teaching the labs might be fun. I have meetings Mon through Wed next week to prepare.
I may be coming home for Labor Day to get the rest of my stuff, because let me tell you, I packed that car TIGHT and I still left a significant portion of my things behind.
I'll post pictures soon, and talk about my roommate too.
