Long Weekend Fun

May 22, 2007 22:51

We had a productive long weekend. Friday evening we went out and got all our shopping done for the weekend. Then when we came home we laid down some sod (grass) around the driveway where it had been ripped up by the driveway pavers last year.
Saturday morning we got an early start. We planted the petunia's we bought in the flower bed in front of the house. We got pink and purple flowers.
After gardening we started on the painting. We had two rooms in our house that remained unpainted. We started by painting the trim and baseboards in the bathroom and spare bedroom as well as the closet in the bedroom.
In the evening we had barbecued burgers and sweet potatoes (excellent on the bbq!) and went for a 6km bike ride to Dairy Queen (plus 6km return), for a well deserved treat.
We continued painting on Sunday, giving the bathroom two coats of purple paint (same as in our en suite bathroom), and the bedroom one coat of blue paint. Sunday evening we took a break and went out to see some fireworks. We went to the park near our house where there is a hill overlooking the northern and western parts of Waterloo. It was neat to see fireworks going off everywhere in the distance. There was also a small show of fireworks going on just outside the park.
On holiday Monday we put on the second coat of blue paint and then constructed and installed the shelves for the closet in that room. With the beautiful weather having returned, we barbecued some chicken and veggies for dinner.
Exhausted and sore from home renovations, I'm ready for a short week of rest sitting at my monitor. :)
