My Dad just discovered iTunes. His first move was the download John Mellencamp's Greatest Hits and burn it onto a CD. I was wrested from my sleep this morning by a LOUD rousing chorus of "I NEED A LOVER WHO WON'T DRIVE ME CRAZY... SOMEBODY TO THRILL ME AND THEN GO AWAY..." And in my groggy brain, I was just able to make out my Dad singing along at the top of his voice downstairs.
I mean Jesus, Dad. John Mellencamp? It was 8:30 on a Sunday morning. And: he's awful.
It's not bad to be home. I'm still in wide-eyed wonder at luxuries like plenty of milk and a dishwasher and a clean kitchen. Tonight I baked Farm Rolls for Mom and Dad, and they tasted so much like the house and the Current and the dirty dirty kitchen from which the delicious delicious food comes. I might be a freakishly sentimental person. It's only been, what, five days?
Ping-pong with Phil and Tatge. Hooray!
