scooter? i hardly know her
so, i am looking at getting a scooter (been doing research for a while), yesterday di and i went out to colonial harley to check out their vespas.
i am totally sold now on the one i had in mind! (see pics below) the staff at colonial harley were great and the shop was amazing! tons of bikes on the showroom and a dedicated vespa section. the chick that talked with us was definitely a biker girl, blonde hair big boobs, but she was really nice and admitted when she didn't know something instead of talking out her ass. the vespa section was right in the middle of the shop and was a nice display of scooters including two vintage scoots that still ran. i sat on 3 different models several different times. biker babe's opinion was obviously that of a biker and thought that i looked to big for the scoots and that i should just get a bike instead, but i made it clear that i was there for a scooter. even with that known she was still trying to push this crazy thing called a Piaggio MP3 400 (pics below). anyway... it was really nice to see them in person and confirm that what i liked online was what i liked best in person. so now it is just a matter of saving up a little and playing the waiting game to get it, but i am confident it will be soon!
di and i are going to take the class together, but have to wait till mid to late october since the class is booked up till then.
i would like to get advice from all of my two wheel riding friends about a few things:
-should we go to dmv and take the written test so that we can get a learners and ride with some of you that do ride, or should we wait till after we take the class and just ride with the M on our license?
-i can pay $25 to park it in the deck where i work, but i also with have to street park it, so what would be the best thing for me to secure it with?
-the helmet i am looking at is the HJC FS-3 (pics and link below), what do you think?
-not sure what to do about a jacket, on one hand the armored jackets like dw and ant have are cool, but i am not sure if that is the style i am wanting to go with, would a nice thick material coat work, other jacket suggestions?
-dw and ant got some sweet gloves and i think i will go that route, but if you have suggestions i would love to hear them.
-any other things i should know?
