rambo? no.....rainbow!

I forgot to talk about last weekend...

So my buddy Chris and myself have had this plan in the making for over two years now, and it finally became a reality Saturday and Sunday night. The NHL Roadtrip Weekend. It consisted of some of my best friends from college in Michigan and my best friend from Illinois all getting together to watch the 2 game series of the Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings. Now, being an Illinois-ian, I am obviously a hawks fan as is my friend Adam. Even though they have the worst owner in sports, and have now been voted as the worst franchise in sports ever by ESPN, they are still my team, and am loyal through thick and thin....well mostly just thin. But going to school in Michigan, I was forced to live and befriend Red Wings fans. And firstly, Detroit and Chicago have a rivalry stemming back to the beginning of the league with the Original Six. Second of all, Detroit has a franchise team and has consistently been one of the best teams in the NHL for quite a while now. Making it all the more harder and humbling to be a Blackhawks fan....

But anyways, we drove to Royal Oak Saturday, and then headed to D-town. It really is a dump folks. haha. We chilled at an Irish bar for a bit, and then took a free bus over to the Joe Louis Arena for Game 1. Now before we went in to sit down, Chris decided he wanted to make a bet with me. And not just a small one. The bet was this: If Chicago wins just ONE of these two games, he has to wear a Chicago Blackhawks jersey with the player of my choice at anytime I'm with him and at my will. The other side is if Detroit wins BOTH games, I have to do the same with a red wings jersey and player of his choice.

Chicago lost Game 1. Khabibulin let in 5 goals before the idiotic coaching staff decided it was time to pull him. Anderson came in and played like a man possessed, and gave the hawks some more confidence to try and rally but it just wasn't enough. Final Score: Red Wings 6, Blackhawks 4

Hung out the rest of the night at Lee and Chris's. Mostly just talked and watched some tv. And I prayed for a Chicago victory the next night. (haha, as if God is really concerned about my bad home team winning a game....unless of course, he's got a greater plan to come out of it. :))

The next day we got on the road and headed back home. Stopped in at my place to pick up my brother and then headed to the United Center for Game 2. Now surely after last night's dismal performance of the "Bulin Wall" (yeah right), I was sure Yawney was going to put in Craig Anderson between the pipes again. I was confident the Hawks could squeak a win in with him in net. But noooo...who do I say skating out to backstop. Nikolai Khabibulin. And predictably enough, he started the game and let in 3 goals in the first seven minutes of the game before getting pulled again. Oh, and it was on only 5 shots. What a bust this signing was. Anderson then came in to try to bail us out again and let in 2 more goals on 23 shots. Again, played good, but wasn't enough. Final score: Red Wings 5, Blackhawks 3.

So yeah....my beloved team let me down, and I lost big time, and kind of lost my dignity in the hockey world as well. But I guess I can always just wear it with a jacket on....nothing in the bet said I couldn't do that. :)

Monday, I went out to eat with a bunch of people at Friday's.

The rest of the week was just the usual: mostly working at the Yellow Box.

Friday, ran some errands with Adam for a while...I also watched Walk The Line and Casablanca.

Just finished playing all the services at Montgomery this weekend with Bob, Charissa, Jeff, and Breanne. Although Breanne got sick and couldn't be here with us this morning, which was a bummer. Yeah, the services went really well though. I really dug the flow of the baptism with the live worship song. Made it pretty powerful. And I think Jeff is one of the funniest people I've met...he was cracking me up all weekend. And I got to try out the Line 6 POD i got from Greg E. That little kidney bean has got some kick. I need to mess around with it some more and tweak some things but I'm digging it. After the services Saturday night, Charissa, Bob and myself went to Bob Evans for dinner and ended up staying there for almost 3 hours just chatting and relaxing. It was very cool. It seems my life has pretty much just consisted of working or just hanging out at home a lot, so it was nice to just spend some quality time with some friends and just hang out. Sometimes life can get lonely, and you need those kind of nights.

I've also got some big decisions to make in the next couple months about the future...and where I'm going to end up. If you could, pray for direction for me. I trust God will take care of me.

Well, the 2006 Fantasy Baseball Draft is in T minus 2 and a half hours. Can't wait for the baseball season to start. Because it brings all the great stuff with it. Warm weather. Friends. Outdoors. Volleyball. Softball. BBQ's. Summer nights. I could keep going but I'll spare the reader.

That's all for now.

P.S. Elizabethtown soundtrack + randomly driving the countryside with the windows down = bliss
