Status update
Sorry, had to clear the travelogue out of the queue first. We've made it and have found an apartment, in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Great place, walkable to everything, nice hardwood floors, might even have enough space for all our Stuff. Movers arrive tomorrow, I officially start "work" on Monday (three weeks of research goof-around time before real work), and Jennifer's job interview process is going well.
Biggest problem we're facing right now is food/drink. Namely, too much of it. There are tons of tasty things in our neighborhood, and there is alcohol everywhere. We're going to have to figure out a way not to gain another ten pounds (on top of what I, at least, have already put on by eating poorly and not exercising well during the course of our move).
