In other news, family medicine still going well. Definitely light work compared to other inpatient services. However, I have run into a dilemma. What do you do when your resident has poor English skills and a thick accent, to the point that he's not able to communicate effectively with our low-health-literacy patients? I can go back and talk to patients after the fact, but it's very hard to do too much without being disrespectful. It's clear that others also recognize this problem, including the attendings, but I have no idea if anyone's working to fix it.
