Just a few upcoming movie blurbs that the geek in me found fun...
Voltron:
After nearly three years of development, preparations for the Voltron movie look to be entering the home stretch: Variety is reporting that New Regency and the Mark Gordon Company are in the late stages of negotiations to bring one of 1984's best-selling toys to the big screen.
Forbidden Kingdom:
A martial arts fan's wet dream is about to come true when Jackie Chan and Jet Li costar in The Forbidden Kingdom. The epic fantasy story features both fighters in historical action. Needless to say, their first fight scene attracted a crowd.
"Jet and me on the location, so many people come," said Chan. "We have to cover with more security guards, everybody wants to see what happens. All the crew members, everybody waiting for something. A funny, funny situation. A funny feeling."
When the kicks started flying, Chan wondered what took so long. "I've known Jet Li for 15 years, 20 years. We're good friends. The first time on the set with Jet Li, was just like wow, finally we work together. The first time we fight, spar -- wow, good feeling."
Enter the Dragon:
Martial arts purists, unite: Hollywood is planning a remake of Bruce Lee's classic Enter the Dragon. According to the report, it will not be a faithful version but rather a contemporized remake, with noir undertones, set in the illicit world of fight clubs.
Who, you ask, would have the audacity to attempt a remake of one of the most legendary martial arts films in history? Variety reports that Warner Independent has given the go-ahead to Kurt Sutter, a longtime writer and executive producer of the award-winning F/X show The Shield, who is currently penning the script and will direct himself.
Perhaps for the better, the film -- entitled Awaken the Dragon -- will only loosely resemble the 1973 Bruce Lee film. Instead of a kung fu expert going undercover at a martial arts tournament to infiltrate a drug ring, the new version will follow "a lone FBI agent who pursues a rogue Shaolin monk into the bloody world of underground martial arts fight clubs."
Blade Runner:
This winter, Warner bros is set to release a DVD box set of this box office Prometheus that rivals all other special editions and will keep the fans drooling until it's on shelves this December 18th. Presenting the film in HD formats, the DVD collection will come in a briefcase with, a three-hour documentary and (count them) five different versions of the film, including Ridley Scott's dark "work print."
Saw 4:
First 5 Min.Jigsaw and his apprentice Amanda are dead.
Upon the news of Detective Kerry's murder, two seasoned FBI profilers, Agent Strahm (Scott Patterson) and Agent Perez, arrive at the depleted police precinct and help veteran Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) sift through Jigsaw's latest grizzly game of victims and piece together the puzzle. However, when SWAT Commander Rigg, the last officer untouched by Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), is suddenly abducted and thrust into the madman's harrowing game, the officer has but ninety minutes to overcome a series of interconnected traps...or face the deadly consequences.
Rigg's citywide pursuit leaves a wake of dead bodies, and Detective Hoffman and the FBI uncover long hidden clues that lead them back to Jigsaw's ex-wife Jill (Betsy Russell). The genesis of Jigsaw's evil is unveiled, exposing the puppet master's true intentions and the sinister plan for his past, present and future victims.
And finally in copyright news, glad to see it's not just me having problems...
