Happy Birthday to me!
Fisrt let me say thanks to everyone on the MDRF FoF Message Boards, MySpace, and LiveJournal who wished me a happy birthday. It might not seem like much to a lot of folks, but it means a hell of a lot to me.
So the celebration for my birthday started Wednesday when Prax took my kids to the mall to get me my gift. We had dinner at Pizza Hut, it's where we all wanted to eat, and they gave me thier little gifts that they had bought. The Duff can with playing cards and my giant pen were my favorites.
Thursday DuClaw's held a release for Twisted Kilt, a Scotch ale, which is one of my favs that they do. RifRaf decided to make the trip up to share in the fun. We had some appetizers, plenty of beer and we got our cool ass glasses and new t-shirts. Thanks to Rif for picking up the check. It was a good night chillaxin with my baby and a good friend.
Friday after some sewing Prax gave me her gift, damn this girl knows me too well. A nice 12 year old Glenfiddich, a 5 year old Specail Port, and a box of chocolates were stuffed into a bag. I was told it was my Hedonists Bag and I would have gotten cigars but she knows that I have plenty right now, which I do. We picked the kids up from school and had a good afternoon before we went out by ourselves.
We went to Arundle Mills to get my Pint Club Dinner from DuClaw's and had a surprising evening. As we walked in the mall I noticed that my cigar shop, Tobacco Leaf, was having a promotion for Drew Estates. We walked over to see what they were doing and found that it basically entailed buying 2 and getting 1 free or buying a box and getting this bad ass hat. I asked if they had any of the cigars that I shared with Jack and RifRaf second weekend. They didn't but we started talking about how I had a Maduro Egg to smoke tonight because it is a Birthday tradition for me. The guy asked me what I got and when I told him he got this grin and just said "That's so cool!" Well, we bought four and got two free and the guy said for us to make sure we entered the drawing. As Prax was paying the boss man the dude doing the promotion walked over and handed me a hat saying, "Happy Birthday." How cool was that?
We headed over to Dave & Busters to get my free points added to my card for it being my Birthday, then off to DuClaw's for dinner. We had some trouble getting a table in the bar, we like Fells Point so much better, but finally got one in the corner. We place our huge order and once the beers arrived we toasted and I blazed up one of the freebies I got, an Acid Kuba Deluxe, and damn was I amazed. It was so sweet tasting that could taste the fermented sugars on your lips after puffing. Prax thought it was fantastic. We had a great dinner with good food, beer, and smoke.
We headed back to Dave & Busters for the one bad moment of the night. They wouldn't let us because we had a doggy bag, I just looked at the guy and said, "I guess you don't want our money then." And we came home.
Once home, I cracked open my Scotch and pulled out my Maduro Egg. We enjoyed a nice night on the couch drinking and smoking and talking about our day when Prax reminded me about the drawing. Prax called up the cigar shop and found out that I had won the 14 cigar sampler tin from Drew Estates. Damn it was a good night! We enjoyed our drinks and my cigar while watching Summer Rental, and then the phone rang. It was Deuce calling to be the first to wish me a happy birthday, what a guy.
I was just told that I needed to come to be so I'm thinking my night isn't quite over yet...
Don't forget tomorrow is the Pub Crawl at MDRF, everyone is welcome and we are meeting at the Dragon Inn at 11am to start the crawl.
