Orient the Newbie

Sep 26, 2005 13:01

Went to the New Employee Orientation this morning that lasted until a little after noon. It was fine. There was a ton of information that will have to be looked through and I'm not looking forward to all of that. There are two different health insurance plans that we can elect to be a part of -- Blue Cross or an HMO. I think I'm leaning toward the HMO (at this point) because I liked some of the additional benefits and the co-pay. Maybe it's just because that's what I'm used to having. Plus, I typically don't have $500 worth of medical expenses in a typical year. Thank God. There's also the dental and life insurance stuff that I have to figure out and the retirement stuff too. I'm not complaining about it, but it's a fact of life trying to get signed up for everything. In addition to the paperwork that needs to be filled out (within 31 days), I've got 6 online components that I must complete before 31 days is over. Fortunately, I can do them on company time which is nice.

It was nice getting back to my department at 12:10, because that meant I had 20 minutes until lunch. Good times.

Today is my 3rd LJ-versary. Thanks, laurelamanda for the invite code! Thanks, gabriel82 for squandering joshwaylon's initial code. Ahhh...remember the good old days of invite codes? Although it seems that some of the initial crap that occurred right after the LJ codes were removed has evened out. Serial adding is actually kind of funny on a very juvenile level.

That's about it for now. More soon...
