What's this? An update?
Geez my life is boring. I haven't updated 'cause nothing of worth has happened. And even when it has, I still don't update. But here I am and for what it's worth, here are some happenings.
Hmmm, about two weeks ago we had a bomb scare at the library (my place of work). Personally I thought everyone was overreacting --and I was right-- but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. I had the (un)fortunate privilage to work the circulation desk, even though the circ staff was fully staffed that day, don't even get me started on my supervisor taking advantage of me :rollseyes:, and it was really busy. My desk partner was helping a lady with the copy machine, so I was up at the desk on my own. I had a huge line and people coming at me from all directions so I didn't notice anyone come behind the front desk. But just before my shift was up, my supervisor comes up and asks me what this backpack was doing behind the desk. I had no idea, my partner had no idea. Apparently, someone managed to come behind the desk without me knowing. They didn't bother to ask if we would watch it, which we wouldn't of, they just took it upon themselves to leave it there. We paged the library looking for someone to claim it, but no one did. We suspected who the patron was but when we searched for him, he was no where to be found. He's a homeless man who comes in every day, to read the newspaper, the biographies, magazines, etc. so he new better than to leave it there. He knew that wasn't allowed. So when no one came foward, we had to evacuate the building. We were out there for an hour and a half so the fire department and police could check it out. I think they may have confiscated the bag, and since most of his possessions where in there, when the patron returned he had the gall to be pissed off for something that was his fault.
So, a little blip of excitement in my otherwise boring life. I also got offered the job of part-time desk assisitant. It's the same amount of hours but a hell of alot more money. I'd be working nights instead of days which are much busier. So, I'm kind of conflicted. Originally I was offered full-time desk assistant, but that would conflict with school, so I had to turn it down. There are gonna be other applicants but my boss told me that if I want it the job is mine. Decisions, decisions.
