Holy slag - everything just got away from me this past week. I only thought I was 4 pics behind. My bad.
Just as well, I can do all the ice pics in one big post.
The orchard next to the house is kind of low, and the ground can stay soggy for quite awhile. I found this weird process happened when there was no snow and the temperature dropped to freezing overnight. The water in the ground would freeze, and push up these "crystal towers", 2 - 3 inches long. I thought they were quite beautiful. Can't you almost see the little fairys and sprites going about their business and darting around the columns?
this one reminds me of a waterfall.
And, here I cheat a little with the last picture, but I wanted to show you some detail of the shards.
