Was really looking forward to this Christmas. Mostly because I'd get to live the anniversary of proposing to Rosemary, and I'm so looking forward to putting a bow on 2011.
I took off the weekend before Christmas, knowing that I'd have parties to attend. And boy did we. On the 17th, we did a whirlwind tour of stuff that, for the most part, involved me sitting in three different rooms full of women. Such is my life.
We started the morning in Torrington. Julia was having her Rock and Retro Holiday Market, with all kinds of her Brazen Betties conspirators on the loose. Picked up a few presents thanks to
Sugar Plum by Rachel DeCavage, Flashy Flamingo and Karlatta Muffelatta; ate delicious treats from Better Baking By Beth; caught up with Merle O Whirl of
Grace Black Vintage, Kate, Carolyn of Dynamite Angel, Chip, Keith and a few others of the T-Town crew; gorged on a green chili cheeseburger at
Rocket Fine Street Food.
And if all that wasn't awesome enough, Rosemary did a photoshoot for our friend Sylvie to model a top I had Sylvie make for Rosemary this past summer. They set up at the
Yankee Pedlar Inn, so we finally got to see what a room in there looks like. I helped wrangle coffee and things, then left the room full of models to their work. Rosemary was a real trouper, wearing an off-the-shoulder summer top outside on a blustery December day. So proud of her, can't wait to see the photos.
Next we went to Meriden to see our friend Laurie Lynne, who was throwing a party at her home showcasing her
jewelry. Very pretty stuff, and it was nice to chat with her, see Gina, Heather and Gina's mom too. This was the first time we'd hung out with L.L. in a non-loud/bar/street market/roller derby setting, so we got to really talk. We made some plans to discuss bridesmaid jewelry. (One of the great things about this wedding: Thanks to our crafty CT friends, this won't look like any other wedding. Whatever we cook up, it's gonna be great.)
Full of jewelry, snacks and melted chocolate, we hit the road for Jersey to see Tanya and Danielle at their holiday party. It had been a rough week for me, so I was totally ready to party. From step one in the door, I had a drink in one hand and someone to chat with in the other.
It was good to see my friends and some folks from T&D's wedding that I hadn't seen in the two years since.
The next day we hung out with T&D for a quick lunch at the monstrous Menlo Park Mall, and then back on the road.
By Sunday night, Rosemary and I were snuggled up back in our own place, the Christmas tree glowing as she watched "Die Hard" for the first time.
