Sociality returns

I'm working days again, so that means a social life is returning. Cue the random stuff!

Booze. I've been doing a lot of drinking recently. Well, not a lot in terms of getting drunk. More like overall volume. There's been alcohol every day, feels like. Rosemary and I went to Cuvee wine bar twice last week; Thursday just to go out, and Saturday after seeing True Grit. Sunday I spent drinking beer and cocktails while watching football with separate friends at a pair of homes. Plus the typical beer after work, or wine with dinner. If I'm going to lose any weight, all this drinking doesn't help, right?

Friends. We actually have seen some friendly faces. We finally saw Diane working the wine bar, so we caught up and she got to see the ring. Tish came to see us in West Hartford the week before last for Thai food at the new Blue Elephant Trail Cafe in the center followed by Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World amid the Christmas tree. And last weekend Martha and Neil slept over Friday night, followed by Sunday NFL playoffs with Mike, Virginia and baby Charlie before I watched the Jets-Patriots game at Tish's place.

Snow. Tons of snow, every dang few days. I don't mind snow, I just don't like driving in it, but I'm not afraid of it, either. But it's cramping my style that we've had this much snow, and not one snowball fight yet.

Out. We braved the snow to do First Friday at the New Britain Museum of American Art, catching R&B, running into an acquaintance and seeing some art there by a woman Rosemary knows. At Cuvee last week, Diane the awesome bartender hooked us up with some Moet & Chandon to celebrate the engagement. I even hit up Shish Lounge last weekend, reveling in my nightclub disappointment. Monday last week we checked out a new Italian restaurant in the center, Treva. Thursday we're attending Creative Cocktail Hour at Real Art Ways, looking forward to returning for the first time since May.

And now, off to more adventure: sleep, because you go to bed at 10 p.m. when you must be at work at 6 in the morning!
