Oh man, where did I go? I must have fallen through a crack in the floor or something.
Lots going on around here as usual. Here's the skinny on the final days of summer ...
Family:
My parents are coming tomorrow for the weekend. It's the first time they've visited me in CT since I moved here five years ago. Looking forward to showing them my life here in West Hartford, taking them to ESPN, possibly to Torrington and a few other local stomping grounds.
Friends: Last Sunday, Mike and Virginia came over for a day out. We hadn't seen them in about a month since they were away out West. Their
baby Charlie is 6 months old now, and getting so big. Rosemary and I enjoyed the baby love, and then we did some veggie shopping at The Pickin' Patch in Avon. Summer came back with a vengeance, so we were sweating quite a bit while picking a bunch of
peppers, tomatoes and eggplant. Now we're in a mad rush to cook everything before it spoils!
Marketplace: We went to the final Main Street Marketplace in Torrington last week. It was the debut of
Rocket Fine Street Food, run by some folks we know there. Delicious green chile burger with fresh local beef, homemade chili on a challah bun; twice-fried frites, tasty gazpacho -- what didn't I eat? For a bonus, Rosemary and I stumbled upon a super-cute baby hanging out with a sleeping dog. Try not to have your head explode from
the cuteness! We spent the night hanging with
Julia, Carolyn,
Keith, Jill and Jenny.
Philly: Well, first, to Jersey for Danielle's birthday, going out to DELICIOUS Ethiopian food followed by cookies and champagne. Rosemary then went to Philadelphia for a week between her cousin's bridal shower, some other family stuff and friends and work. I came down a week later, and didn't do much but hang with my parents and eat. The first night I got there, Rosemary and I went on a full-on date to get some much-needed time alone -- Indian food for dinner, "The Other Guys" for a movie, and after-movie drinks and dessert. So nice.
Everyone enjoy their Labor Day weeekend!
