And the party monster

This latest mini-vacation had things other than sports, too.

After the Phillies game, Rosemary and I gathered enough energy to hit up Sex Dwarf for the '80s prom. We were pretty tired, but we figured we had to go while we had the chance, and it's one of the few Sex Dwarfs left before she moves.

We got there around midnight, and the place was PACKED. We saw a ton of people - Sara, Ricky, Ultra, Robby, Sal, Steve. Spent a good amount of time catching up with Marilyn, though I'm sad I didn't get to chat with Robert.

The crowed thinned out some more later on, and I got a bunch of dancing in. I mingled a little bit, but it's still weird out there. One girl smiled at me kinda weird when I danced with her, and kissed my hand (as if I were a dainty lady) when I left. Two girls were dancing together, and whenever I looked in their general direction, they made out furiously.* And the lost Huxtable girl, whom I photographed in January 2006 when I first shot Sex Dwarf, showed up looking great. Saw some fun outfits, though there wasn't as much dressing up as I remembered from the prom I went to. I didn't want to sweat all over, so I simply did a tuxedo shirt, tie and cumberbund over jeans and skate shoes.

Sunday I was feeling well enough to keep plans with Mike and Virginia. The rain canceled our hike around the Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington, so we hung out at M & V's, played some "Mario Cart" on the Wii, went to the Buckland Hills Mall in Manchester (which closes at 6 p.m. on a Sunday) and did dinner/drinks at the Half Door in Hartford. Yay, friends!

We also did a bunch of chillin' out, catching up on DVR and eating. We got an AWESOME pizza from this new Italian restaurant nearby, Cava. When we walked in to make the order, a customer told us how good the pizza was as he was picking up about 15 pies. The crust was airy yet thin, the sauce sweet and spicy, the cheese not burnt. And - gasp! - they served it pie-cut, without asking! In CT they cut large pizzas into squares, as if you're always hosting a kids' pizza party.

*I'm sure they were just having a good time, but I can't tell you how many times I've gotten the kiss-off from a couple of girls on a dance floor via elaborate displays of making out. I guess this is simpler than saying no to the thousandth guy to approach on the floor, especially since 999 of them don't want to just dance. I still don't get the girls-making-out-in-the-club thing, even though my generation kicked off this modern hetero-flexible phenomenon about 10 years ago. I guess it's the "safe" thing to do these days 'cause it "doesn't mean anything," right, Katy Perry? I'll just shut up and take your picture.
