Life, 1994-1998

1. Who was your best friend?:
Nick, whom I'm still friends with, even if we've grown apart over time and distance. Another friend that means a ton to me to this day is Rob, who started managing the comic book store in my neighborhood around 1996. Thanks to him I learned not to suffer awful women, read cool comics, listen to real rock. And he's a big part of how I met Rosemary and wound up working at the Tribune.

2.What sports did you play?:
I did cross-country for about two weeks, but liked theater more, so I remained an activities dude.

3. What kind of car did you drive?:
No car, didn't get my license until last December at 26.

4. It's Friday night, where were you?
At home, watching TV.

5. Were you a party animal?:
Nope. Wasn't invited to parties.

6. Were you considered a flirt?
I guess, and I had a number of flirting partners, but it never really went further than that. I never got the idea that I was desirable in high school, so there was little going on in that department despite my everpresent anguish over it.

7. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir?
Choir. Thanks to it I got to sing on the stage of the Academy of Music opera house in Philly.

8. Were you a nerd?
Totally. Edited and wrote for the school paper, took Latin, did lots of theater, edited and wrote for the literary magazine, and graduated with a 4.0 GPA.

9. Did you get suspended/expelled?:
Nope. I think I got one demerit.

10. Can you sing the fight song?
We didn't have one.

11. Who was your favorite teacher?
Mr. Roper most likely, who was my English teacher in junior year and that was when I figured out I should study literature in college. He also was the theater director, so he was my coach through a lot of those times.

12.What was your school's full name?
Malvern Preparatory School.

13. School mascot?
Friars -- go Catholic school!

14. Did you go to Prom?
I went to junior and senior proms. Both experiences ended terribly.

15. If you could go back and do it over, would you?
No, not at all.

16. What do you remember most about graduation?
That my grandfather and grandmother (my mother's side) were both there. They divorced decades ago, and that's maybe the second time I concretely remember the two of them being in the same place at the same time. Also, I was rather unhappy that the girl I was seeing at the time couldn't be there, but fuck her.

17. Where were you on senior skip day?
In school.

18. Did you have a job your senior year?
No; there would be enough time for working -- the rest of my life.

19. Where did you go most often for lunch?
Cafeteria.

20. Have you gained weight since then?
No, I've lost weight.

21. What did you do after graduation?
Bummed around all summer and then went to college.

22. When did you graduate?
1998.

23. Who was your Senior prom date?
Her name was Rochelle, and we met through Nick's then-girlfriend Danielle who also was my friend. She was nice enough, but ran hot and cold to the point of being like two people.

24. Are you going to your 10 year reunion?
Probably not, but we'll see what happens in a year.

25. Who was your home room teacher?
They changed throughout school, but my first one was Mr. Rawlings. My first day of school I had a full beard, and my classmates thought I was the new teacher.

26. Who will repost this after you?
No idea.
