Not a whole ton going on the past few days, but let's try to encapsulate.
I've been fighting a cold. It's almost gone. Typically they start out as sore throat kind of stuff, and then migrate into the sinuses. Also, I can't tell you why, but I almost never take medicine. Adding to the fact that around here I don't feel like walking to the store just to get some, it's also expensive, and I'm one to just tough it out. My colds last 2-3 days, anyhow.
Otherwise, I am on the first of my days off this week. Tomorrow I am renting a car and driving to Waterbury to see "Pan's Labyrinth." I may do some grocery/drugstore shopping in the morning, and maybe out to Trader Joe's in West Hartford and to spend a gift card at Best Buy. I'm also giving blood tomorrow, and then I may go see "Children of Men." And then I could just stay and watch "Curse of the Golden Flower" ... that may have to wait for another day.
I am coming to Philadelphia on Feb 3. Anyone know about anything cool going on that night?
I'll be staying through the 8th, and there's already lots going on. I'm going to be home for Super Bowl Sunday! And this year, it looks like it will be a good game. Unless anyone's throwing a party, I'll probably watch at my parents' house.
Let's take a look at the final four:
NFC Championship Game - The Bears are cool, but the Saints are cooler, more disciplined on offense, decent defense, and have lots of weapons. The Bears likely will have to suffer through an awful game from Rex Grossman (he alternates between deep-ball awesome one week, and jaw-droppingly bad the next), and the secondary is depleted. I get the feeling the Saints are just CRAFTY enough to eke out a win with their offense, to slip one past the Bears' awesome defense.
AFC Championship Game - I hate to say it, but chances are the Colts are going down, plain and simple. However, it will be a close, defense-heavy game. Expect some great defense in this one. The Colts D has looked so good in the playoffs that people are wondering if they were just pretending to suck all year, and the Pats D came up again and again in the final minutes to close the book on the Chargers. The Colts will put up points, since it's at home, and the Colts fans better be SCREAMING FOR DEATH. Still, we are due for a great playoff football moment, and the perfect one would be the Colts getting by on a go-ahead field goal by Adam Vinatieri against his old team with 1:10 left to put them up 24-21, and then the Pats miraculously march down the field, set up the field goal, and Gostkowski misses.
Overall, I want the Pats out. I like the Saints very much, so I want to root for them. But I want to see a Super Bowl with two black head coaches.
He's got a castle made of stone-uh: Monday afternoon, Rosemary and I are going to see the
"King Tut and the Golden Age of the Pharoahs" exhibit at the Franklin Institute. We should be free that night, if anyone wanted to make any plans in the city.
I'm very excited about this exhibit. It's things like this that I miss about Philadelphia; this tour's in Philly and London, and that's it. When the Dali exhibit was traveling the world, it stopped in the U.S. only in Philadelphia. Think about that. My city is kick-ass. Dirty, crime-ridden, mean ... but still kicks ass.
But the fun doesn't stop there. The day after, Rosemary and I are going with her mom to see the Dancing with the Stars Tour. Now if only I could find a way to meet
Cheryl Burke or
Edyta Sliwinska ... Yo,
cubicalgirl:
This site has video of every dance from every season, week by week. So you can finally see Drew and Cheryl's paso doble to "Thriller" from Season 2 -- before they do it before your very eyes, that is.
