neutrogena's clear skin body wash is excellent for that kind of thing - basically *anything* with salicylic acid will take care of the problem, but just don't go for clearasil because the minute you stop using it, everything will come back worse than it did before. in addition, exfoliate. 50% of skin problems are caused by lack of exfoliation - dead skin not only clogs things up but it also attracts dust mites, which can irritate your skin and make it more prone to issues, matter how clean the skin is. for body-level stuff i wouldn't go with something as abrasive as a loofah, but things like salt rubs or origins' "never a dull moment" are wonderful. they just make your skin glow. or just get a bath lily (those sponges made from netting) and scrub really hard.

i was actually really lucky when it came to acne - very little, just the odd zit here and there. i only had massive breakouts when i moved here - something about the climate or who knows. but since i switched to organic face wash and exfoliants and keihl's moisturizer, it's pretty much gone now. but i have dry skin naturally, which is why i had very little acne.

Cool. I'll have to look into it, but my other thing is that my skin gets very dry (except for places where it gets oily), and my doctor has pretty much sworn me off most washes and products -- especially those with dyes, smells and such.

But the backne ain't too bad as long as I keep things washed, and don't pick! It's gotten way better the last few years.

No hard scrubbing. At least not with soaps and things. It makes my skin worse, actually. But plain water? Not too bad.

then i would highly recommend origins' "never a dull moment." you don't have to scrub it in, just leave it on for a few minutes and let it do the work for you. i have extremely dry skin as well (to the point where i can only shower every other day or i'll end up looking like a leper all over), and know that in particular dry-skinned people are prone to problems caused by lack of exfoliation. i also counteract the harshness of exfoliation with a shot of neutrogena's norwegian formula body lotion, which is awesome. it's glycerin-based, and my skin just soaks it up (although for some reason, cocoa and shea butter do absolutely nothing for my skin. weird). and it comes without any additional scents and dyes.
